How do I check the bulbs on the back for the brakes?
SOURCE: 2000 Jeep Wrangler, electrical issue
if the 3ed brake light works , rapidly move hazard switch back & forth & recheck, if they now work change turn signal switch , they are being canceled by switch
SOURCE: brake lights dont work
Check the brake light switch, it is down on the brake pedal lever, you can dis-connect the wire connector at the brake light switch and check for broken wires at the connector, and then jumper the connector with a paper clip, if the brake lights come on then replace your brake light switch.
There might be more than one switch attached to the brake light pedal lever, the brake light switch usually only has two wires going to it when there are two switches.
If there is no problem with the brake light switch then you can suspect the turn-signal switch to be at fault, as all of the running lights, turn-signals, brake lights, and hazard lights are all ran through the turn-signal switch. You can also try stepping on the brake pedal and wiggle around the turn-signal switch and see if the brake lights flicker or come on.

How hard do you have to pull the light assembly after removing the 2 screws? Or is there a trick to getting it out?
