There should be a fluid resivour under the hood on the passenger side behind the headlight area, it may be hard to see because there might be a black plastic air intake duct there above it.

Ihave subaru legacy Rs 1994, 2.0 147kw... when the engine is cold the car jerks driving and a steering relay can be heard ... What could be the problem?

Hard to tell from the question, but it could be that the drive belt that assists the power steering pump is loose or worn. Check any and all drive belts for proper tension and condition. The power steering pump is mounted top front of the motor. It has a fill cap on top where you can easily check if it needs power steering fluid. On the old subarus, they recommend using ATF (automatic transmission fluid) instead of power steering fluid. Hope this helps!

My 1991 subaru 2.5 legacy boxer sounds like the power steering is out of oil when you start car in th mornings, but ok once car has been run ,

Your Pump is getting worn, as it expands the noise goes away. You can try and Empty the Power Steering Pump of its fluid and put new in and there is a chance it will go away but if it does not, you are looking at replacing the Pump.

Preventive Maintenance goes a long way, the same thing with the brakes, Engine, Transmission, ect.. They all require changing the fluid to prolong the life of the components.

Hey more than likely power steering pump is low on power steering fluid, locate power steering fluid reservoir under bonnet and refill with genuine subaru power steering fluid.

2005 subaru legacy is hard to turn when making a sharp turn or parking. Power steering fluid looked good. Started a couple weeks ago and is getting harder to turn.

Hi,

Did u check the belt going into the power steering pump?
Check the tension of the belt.
Let somebody ride on the driver seat, engine is running, and let him/her turn the steering, look at the fluid if it is moving.....

Tell us more afterwards!

I have a 2005 Subaru Legacy and since it has been colder here in Arizona.... believe that! I have been hearing a really loud whinning sound coming from my steering early in the morning! this is the only...

Probably the power steering pump. Can't emagine yours is going out so soon. Probably chinese made ****. These run about $50.00 Let me know when your ready to put it in I will guide you thru it. Unless you have a friend that can do it. Any way you can keep running it until it whines all the time. the steering will get a little harder the longer you wait. Keep a check on the fluid, you can use transmission fluid in it. It's cheaper than power steering fluid and works the same.

Automotive problem. 1991 Subaru Legacy C

Lubricant may not resolve it sounds like it could be your water pump froze up. Look to see if it is turning. Even if it turns it still could be bad.Usally the first sign of it going bad. Stop by your local auto parts store to see if they agree.

How do i bleed my power steering rack on subaru legacy rs turbo

if its been a week, there should no tbe any air. if its heavy, the rack could be bad, or weak pump????? any noises? air will usually cause a whiney noise, and there will be air whipped, foamy fluid in the pump. A pump pressure regulator could be stuck open, not allowing full pressure? I would have a shop diagnose it, tell them the history and see if they can find a cause.
