I've had to replace the input/output sensors on my 96 two times. the last time the connectors were also replaced since they are located under the battery and there was evidence of battery leakage in the connections. Also if the isolator between the drivetrain and the lower radiator support is bad, engine torque puts a strain on the harness at that location, which may or may not contibute to the problem.

This particular year and model has problems with the transmission module. before you go on a whim... make sure your van is shifting gears. when the module goes out it will stay in second gear and not shift to other gears. watch your rpm's to see if it shifts with your speed. if the rpm's dont drop and just continue to advance your transmission is not shifting. the best option if you are not a home mechanic is to take it and have a diagnostic done. there is also the possibility that your input or output sensors are also bad. which also controls when your vehicle shifts and the speed. another thing to look for is if any of the plugs have bare wires and are grounding out. i hope this gives you a place to start..........

thanks for giving a good deal of info to go on. When i think of what temperature will have an effect on I think of oil. Oil would work better in winter because it is thicker and lubricates better. In summer it will thin out and maybe with the higher mileage it has an effect on the motor power. What oil was used on the last oil change. Most popular is a 10w-30w. Maybe summer would be better to use straight 30w. If this helps please reply and good luck

No acceleration after 45/50 mph

I would investigate a clogged fuel filter or weak fuel pump. May just not be getting enough gas to go faster....

Don't forget to check the air filter. Dirty air filter will usually cause issues at lower speeds too but can't be ruled out.

Shaking during acceleration between 25-45 mph

Yeah it sounds like your tranny is not healthy. What i have done in the past, is got a used transmission from an auto wrecker, and then got a written estimate to install it from a reputable repair shop to remove and replace.
All you need to do is find a tranny from a low mileage total loss vehicle. You know it'll be as good as any rebulit. Usually better. I have never seen a rebuilt last as long as origional.
So, your used tranny is 2 to 400 dollars. Installation the same, and you're on the road. Most auto wreckers warrantee their parts for at least 30 days. Just make sure the estimate to install is "written"
