I have a 2001 toyota 4 runner i love the truck but it's a scary ride. The back end sways from side to side. I described the problem to a mechanic and they said it's the tires. I replaced them and that did not fix the problem. HELP!!

I have seen this a couple times. The last one I had would be running down the highway perfectly normal, thenyou could hit a bump or rough spot on the pavement, and the thing would start shaking violently, almost bad enough to loose control of the vehicle. The customer said that this started gradually and continued to get worse. Upon inspection of the rear suspension, I found that all 4 of the trailing arms that hold the differential in place had badly worn/loose bushings. Replacing all of the trailing arms fixed it. Toyota is really proud of their (junk) trailing arms - they cost the customer almost $200 each.

1997 toyota 4 runner shimmies really bad when braking. Brakes are good and suppect bushings on rack.

Nope, most likely bad tires. I love my yota, spent almost a grand on know it all's looking at the front end and trying to re-ballance bad tires. New tires...drives like brand new.

2001 toyota 4 runner/ starter will not disengage after starting

He's right I would check Neutral safety switch first. Make sure B+ only comes out of one end of it when pedal is released. Only time B+ must be out of both sides of this is when pedal is depressed. Ignition switch can't go to starter directly B+ starts at ign switch to neutral safety to solenoid on starter.
Most neutral safety switches can be adjusted.

I need to disconnect the power to a 2001 Toyota 4-Runner.

further to this.... if the battery has side bolts but no actual bolt heads it is probably an allen key or torq socket you will need to disconnect it.
