I have a 2003 Santa Fe with 3.5 6cyl engine that is ideling rought & lots of missing off a stop. had codes PO001,03,05. Had wires & plugs replaced 2 weeks ago & still running rough. Now experiencing PO102, 04, 06 codes. So it jumped to the front bank after plugs & wires replaced.

Do you mean P0301, P0302, etc? Misfire codes? You have 6 plugs, 3 coil packs, and 3 wires. cyl 2,4,6 are the ones in front, with the coil packs. It's possible they're bad.

1. It's hard to say without looking at the vehicle (and test driving it) but more than likely the front end is badly out of alignment. ( If the car has been in a significant front end accident and badly repaired then this could also be a source of the problem as the alignment may not be capable of being properly set).

2. The first thing to do is take the car to a specialist suspension and steering shop and have the wheel alignment checked and adjusted to factory specs. Normally this is not expensive for a straight forward alignment but price depends on the shop. A good suspension shop will also identify if there are any wear problems with the steering or suspension that need attention

3. Older drivers sometimes frequently hit kerbs when parking their cars. This will throw out the front wheel alignment every time (and damage tyres) so it must always be avoided. Scrubbed.scuffed tyre side walls are an indication of this as well as scratched wheel rim edges.

4. Some drivers never check tyre pressures. Low tyre pressures will cause much greater tyre wear as there is more friction. (It will also make steering heavier, place undue stress on the steering components, cause the car to handle badly and result in much higher fuel consumption).
The lady needs to ensure her car has at least 32 lbs pressure in both front tyres and at least 30lbs in the rear (which carries less weight). The pressures must be set with COLD tyres. Manufacturer optimum spec tyre pressures are usually set for comfort. These can be safely exceeded by a few pounds. It is far safer (and more economical) to run slightly higher pressures than a setting that is too low. (A good tyre will run all day with 38-40 pounds pressure and 36-38 is quite safe).

5. Worn out shock absorbers will also contribute to abnormal tyre wear. 70000 miles of average driving will see out a set of shocks. (Personally I would not leave them that long as the factory shocks are generally of average quality on this type of car)..

That's the best I can do Brad without seeing the car so I hope this helps some. Hopefully a good wheel alignment will fix the problem but make sure the tyre pressures are kept up as well. If the shocks are worn out they will also need to be replaced if the car is to be roadworthy.

On the 2.7 V6, you have to remove the surge tank from the intake manifold to gain access to the ignition wires and the spark plugs. 2hr job.

dear friend-it sounds like one of the sensors(wheel)is faulty or one pne of the turnwheels came loose.

it has to do with the injection system. Might be something stupid like a manifold intake gasket leak (commonly known as cylinder 4 misfire problem) or it could be a part of the system like : spark plugs, wiring, fuel injector, throttle position sensor. A low cost solution worth trying is a kleen flow injection system cleaner. It will remove a lot of carbon and see if it helps...

Hi, I have a Hyundai Santa Fe 2003 SUV. It has about 110000 Km on its odometer. Recently, I have noticed that sometimes when I drive faster than 100 Km/h (60 Miles/h) on the HW its speed drops drastically...

First things first. My experience tells me you need to test a few things first before you spend a lot of money. Find an OBDII scanner & check for any powertrain trouble codes (DTC's). If any, investigate & repair as needed.
1. Check fluid level & condition of trans - should be at the 'full' mark and relatively clean. If low or dirty, replace & adjust level. Use ONLY Hyundai SPIII fluid.
2. Check/test the throttle position sensor (potentiometer) for any bad spots (use an analog ohm meter).. if you don't know how to do it, find someone who does. Replace as needed.
3. ZERO out the TCM (PCM). This clears all adaptive values in the computer (this computer is a learning computer and accumulates driver's driving habits). This can be done by disconnectiong both battery cables and touching them together for 30 seconds. Then reconnect them to the battery.
4. Now, if your Santa Fe has the 3.5 lit V6, then your engine is equipped with the ETS (Electronic Throttle System) which incorporates another sensor called the APS - Accelerator Position Sensor - check this one as well (also a potentiometer). replace as needed.

2.4l santa fe spark plug location

there are 2 covers that are over the plugs the first is the big silver and black cover that has four
10mm bolts remove them and then there is a small black cover that is inbetween the two humps on the valve cover i think that there 6 bolts that holdthat down remove this and the coils and plug wires are visable
