SOURCE: trailor plug camry sv21

You don't need a colour code as long as you have a test lamp or a voltmeter.
Turn the side lights, indicators, stop lights, reverse lights, rear fog lights on individually and test for a positive wire each time. Label them with some paper tape and a pen if it makes it easier to keep tabs on them.
All your lighting wiring is in the back of the car/truck/hatch, whatever. Your rear light clusters will lead you to all the wiring you need. If its any help, the rear light cluster bulb positions give away which wiring leads to which bulbs. You can see the colours of the wires right there.

Good luck.

SOURCE: trying to put a flat 7 pin plug for a trailor in my car camry sv21

Use a multimeter, and test each wire individually as you turn on/off lights. You won't need a colour code with this method.

Hi,I have 2010 stralis, the handbook is written in Norwegen i think, when ihook up to trailor the near side trailor lights do not work,i cant work out which fuse i need to change,Help

when hooking up trailers ,the problems are usually in the plug connections. It is very possible that there is a broken wire in a plug or the wiring in the car is different to the plug. If the lights of the vehicle all work then it is not a fuse but in the plugs or trailer.

Installed a wiring kit for a trailor but when i hit the brakes the lights go out on the trailor.any ideas?

Hi,
You need to get a proper earth connection through the trailer. Ensure all your light is earthed to the trailer on the steel parts, then take a wire from the trailer plug to the frame.
Then on the car make sure you have the same pin as for the trailer earth going to the car earth pin, then find a good earth on the car and run a wire from the car plug to that earth.
This should stop your lights from flickering when the indicator is on also. So in short wire in a good earth for the trailer as well as a good earth for the car. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

Hi, plug in in the back does not work for a hook up on my trailor. all the tail lights on the truck do work. the trailor about half of them work. i do not have tail lights or backup lights and my left...

You probably have corrosion in the socket on your truck. You'll have to take the plug in apart and check it. Or, it could be loose, damaged or broken wires leading to the plug.

Trailor lights won't work

If the trailer lights work on another vehicle, the fault must be in the wiring of the plug you installed
