The alarm would cause the car not to crank, and the alarm horn would sound. You can try unlocking the car from the trunk lock to disarm the alarm. But crank and no start could be a bad ignition switch. Do the dashboard lights stay on or go out while the key is in the crank position? They should remain "on". Worn ignition switch could cause the car to crank but not start.
It is telling me to lock the doors with the key, this will arm the system, then you should be able to unlock the doors after about 3 seconds and this should disarm the system. Also, if it doesn''t try unlocking the passenger side door or the back glass with the key. Let me know you must wait at least 3 seconds before unlocking back glass or passenger door to disarm system once one door is unlocked without setting off alarm it is disabled. hope this helps
Hi, if the alarm is armed the car not going to start,it might start and shut right back off. Have you shut all doors and hood down , take your key and lock and unlock car this should disarm alarm system. If dont work on driver side try passanger side. You might have remote reprogram. and if none of this work for you if you can stand the noise put key in switch and turn to run and leave it on for 30 mins. If i can help you futher just re post.
Thanks dodge tec
Could be a few thing's , relay sticking ( contacts inside burnt ) intermittant short on the ground wire ,does the vehicle have a content theft system alarm ? could be a input problem to the GEM - generic electronic control module . Looking at a wiring diagram to see what all is involved in the control of the horn an using a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter to test the electrical circuits . Do you know how to do that ? Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on interior & driver amenity ,then under subsystem click on horn .I see the RAP module not GEM module for alarm system . Your best bet mite be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop . If you do not know how to test the electrical circuits .
replace the horn relay;or the horn button on the steering wheel is grounded and energizing the horn. any maintenance involving the steering wheel can be dangerous becaus of the air bag. if you just want to stop the horn, remove the relay, probably located in the fuse box under the hood. check the manual for location, but if your state has a safety inspection it will need to be fixed before the inspection is due
I've had this exact problem before when being jumped off. The fob DOES NOT make it stop. We removed the fuse that goes to the horn. As soon as your battery gets recharged from the alternator, the fob will work again and the alarm will quit sounding. The only pain about removing the fuse is that the cruise control will not work until you put it back.
Alarm Module Reset Procedure NOTE: This information applies to a Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) that was armed when the battery was disconnected and reconnected.
When the armed VTSS senses that the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, it enters its power-up mode. In the power-up mode the alarm system remains armed following a battery failure or disconnect. If the VTSS was armed prior to a battery disconnect or failure, the system will have to be actively or passively disarmed following a battery reconnection.
The power-up mode will also apply if the battery goes dead while the system is armed and battery jump-starting is attempted. The engine no-run feature will prevent the engine from starting until the alarm system has been actively or passively disarmed.
Passive disarming of the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) occurs when the vehicle is unlocked using the key to unlock either front door or the lift gate. Active disarming of the VTSS occurs when the vehicle is unlocked by depressing the Unlock button of the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.
Once the alarm has been activated (horn sounding, lights flashing, and the engine no-run feature), either disarming method will deactivate the alarm.
Depressing the Panic button (if equipped) on the RKE transmitter will also disarm the VTSS, but the horn will sound and the lights will flash for about three minutes as part of the Panic feature. The horn and lights can be stopped by pressing any of the RKE transmitter's buttons or driving the vehicle above 15 mph.
Have the door panel removed. On the back of the lock cylinder(should be but it maybe loose)harness. manipulate the harness to disarm the factory alarm. Car should start. [email protected]
