The fuel filter is an integral component of the fuel pressure regulator, which is mounted on top of the fuel pump module, located in the fuel tank. When the fuel filter/regulator assembly requires service, the fuel tank must be removed from the vehicle, however, the fuel pump module does not need to be removed.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  2. You dont have to relieve your fuel systems pressure because your jeep has an automatic bleeder.
  3. Remove the fuel tank assembly.
  4. Clean the area around the fuel filter/regulator.

  1. Disengage the retaining clamp from the top of the filter/regulator assembly. Discard the retaining clamp.
  2. Using 2 small prying tools, pry the filter/regulator assembly out from the top of the fuel pump module. The filter/regulator assembly will unsnap from the fuel pump module.
  3. Remove and discard the mounting gasket below the filter/regulator.

  1. Clean the recessed area in the pump module where the filter/regulator assembly is to be installed.
  2. Check the replacement filter/regulator assembly to make sure that the new O-rings are already installed on the assembly.
  3. Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the O-rings.
  4. Install a new gasket on top of the fuel pump module.
  5. Press the new fuel filter/pressure regulator assembly into the top of the fuel pump module until it snaps into position (a positive click must be heard or felt).
  6. The arrow on top of the fuel pump module should be pointed towards the front of the vehicle (12 O&rsquoclock position).
  7. Turn the filter/regulator assembly until the supply tube (fitting) is pointed to the 11 O&rsquoclock position.
  8. Install new retainer clamp (the clamp snaps over the top of the filter/regulator and locks to the flanges on the pump module).

How often replace fuel filter 2004 cadi srx

hi Robert.
How often do you need to change your fuel filter? Always check your owner's manual to see what the vehicle manufacturer's recommended guidelines are for fuel filter replacement. Sources online estimate filters should be replaced as soon as every 20,000 up to 40,000 miles or more.
What are the symptoms of a bad fuel filter?Symptoms of a bad fuel filter. One typical example of a restricted fuel filter is a vehicle that cuts out or loses power driving up an incline, such as a bridge. Under load, fuel demand increases and a clogged fuel filter reduces the needed flow. As the fuel filter gets dirty, the fuel pump works much harder.
How do you fix a clogged fuel filter?Clean Filter. Spray the filter on each side with carburetor cleaner and then tap it against a hard surface to knock debris loose. Repeat the process several times until the fuel filter is in acceptable condition. Let the filter dry for one hour and then reinstall it.

What could cause the engine not to stay running after the fuel filter was replaced? Even after fuel pump was replaced?

From remote site, it is hard to tell what is the root cause, and change pump was done in proper order -- you should post the problem before replacing fuel pump.
Here is what I will do, assume you can do a little by yourself.
Changing fuel filter should be easy by disconnect fuel hose (pipe) from the fuel filter . Since ASE mechanic did job in your house, I assume the old fuel filter is still in your hand. Change it back (replace new filter with your older one) to see if your car will work as before. This supposed to be done before replacing the fuel pump.
If older filter works, then you knew the new filter is the root cause. This could be resolved by replacing another new filter. If the problem appear again, leave the new filter in for over night to see if the new filter will work on the next day (you could use exiting new filter to avoid buying another filter, unless you will get a different brand one). If not, the choice is to use older one for a while when trying figure why new filter does not work.

If old filter does not wok either, then something is in forwarding fuel line between fuel filter and fuel ejection system. Then, that section needs to be cleaned. Assume the pressure is measured at connection between forwarding line and fuel filter.

Where is 2004 avalanche fuel filter

The fuel filter is contained in the fuel sender assembly inside the fuel tank. the paper filter element of the fuel filter traps particles in the fuel that may damage the fuel injection system. The fuel filter housing is made to withstand maximum fuel system pressure, exposure to fuel additives, and changes in temperature. There is no service interval for fuel filter replacement.

IMPORTANT: This vehicle has a lifetime fuel filter built into the fuel sender inside the tank and thus is not serviceable separately. The fuel filter is not a replaceable part.

I need to replace my fuel filter. need to know where it is and what i need to do to access it.

Hi,

Regarding Fuel Filter - Under vehicle, driver side, below seating area, front of fuel tank, mounted on chassis in fuel line.

A device located in the fuel line to remove impurities from the fuel before it enters the carburetor or injector system.

INSPECTION

Fuel filters can be located in a fuel line, in the tank, in a carburetor, or in any combination of these. A carburetor often has a filter behind the fitting at its fuel inlet.

An external fule filter. Courtesy of General Motors Corporation, Service Technology Group. Engine heat causes fuel to vaporize, which can result in vapor lock in the filter. Some fuel filters have vapor return lines to allow for expanding vapors and fuel to return to the tank.

REPLACE

Fuel filters and elements are serviced by replacement only. Some vehicle manufacturers recommend fuel filter replacement at 30,000 miles (48,000 km). Always replace the fuel filter at the vehicle manufacturer's recommended mileage.
The fuel filter replacement procedure varies depending on the make and year of the vehicle and the type of fuel system. Always follow the filter replacement procedure in the appropriate service manual. The photo sequence below shows a typical procedure for relieving fuel pressure and removing a fuel filter.
