Does 2006 Chevy Colorado 5 cylinder engine have timing belt

  • J kent Pace Oct 31, 2012

I have a 2006 Chevy Colorado 4x4. It has 180,000 miles on it and has been running great. Should I be worried about the timing chain?

Hello Geek beak.

No belt, the Colorado uses a timing chain setup.

2006 Chevy Colorado. I think my timing jumped. I went to start then I heard something popped from drive on the side under the hood. I notice the crankshaft sensor was not connected.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved the Colorado sub-category.

I wonder is you picked something up and the serpentine belt whipped the stick or whatever and disconnected the crankshaft position sensor. Can you reconnect it and start the vehicle?

Chevy Colorado,2004,5 cylinder,4x4,z71. When I start my truck it dings four times slow, then four more times fast. Engine light is not on. It does have trouble starting the first time each day.

Try putting your seat belt on before even putting the key in switch and starting the vehicle. It may only be your seat belt alarm dinging. Mine does that very same thing, so I belt up first every time. Then it doesn't do the dinging.

How do you change the oil on a 2006 chevy colorado

This is for the 5 cylinder 3.5 liter engine in the Colorado

1. The drain plug is in the middle of the oil pan on the drivers side.
Use a 15 mm socket or box end wrench to remove the plug. Drain
oil.
2. The oil filter is at the bottom front corner of the engine on the passenger side. Remove the filter. Try not to tip the filter when you
remove it so you don't get oil on other parts of the truck.
3. Rub a small of oil on the gasket of the new filter. Spin on the new filter, 3/4 to 1 turn past when the gasket starts to seat. Hand tighten
only.
4. Reinstall the drain plug. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN OR YOU COULD
STRIP THE THREADS.
5. Add 6 quarts of oil to the oil filler tube located on top of the engine
in the front and middle of the engine compartment. It shows the location
in the owners manual. Install the filler cap.
6. Start the engine and let it run a few minutes to fill the filter with oil.
Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes for the oil to drain down to
the bottom of the engine. Remove the dip stick and check oil level.
Checking oil level is in the owners manual.
