Why wont my car start

Possibly a battery cable terminal or the connection at the starter.
Sometimes a loose or faulty wire can barely work until a load is put on it then it just shuts down. Test power flow at starter before and after turning the key. Replace battery cable ends and if the problem persists, replace entire cable.

Need to replace the starter

remove the battery terminals, remove wires from starter, remove starter, replace with new starter, hook wires back up to starter and battery. Remember where the wires go as you take them off, once you mix them up, its hard to figure out where they went if you don't take a mental note or lable them with masking tape etc.

1979 Ford F 250 Electrical Problems

Youve probably tested the main wire for continuity and its good, but a major short can burn an inner section of wire and you can still get continuity, however because the conductors burnt it wont charge under load due to poor connection. Try changing the entire cable from the alternator to the battery or temporarily jump a piece of 8 gauge from the charging terminal of the alternator to the battery and see if that solves the problem
