On a 1988 F-150 with an Auto Transmission the dipstick is usually on the passenger side near the exhaust manifold close to the firewall. Also you fill the Auto trans thru the dipstick. Good Luck

The manual transmission does not have a dipstick. The fluid level is determined by a fill plug in the side of the tranny. If the fluid is up to the level of the fill hole, then it is full.

OK, tell me how my post is inappropriate?

  • six-of-ten Sep 03, 2008

Does your standard transmission have a dipstick? And, do you fill it through a plug in the side?

SOURCE: cant find dip stick for transmission

this is a sealed transmission, it has no stick stick, the fluid must be checked by the dealer using an electronic scan tool.

Check your manual, but you may not have one. Quite a few newer cars no longer have dipsticks for the trans fluid.

SOURCE: where is the Transmission fluid dip stick to add

Hello and Welcome to Fixya,
Very sorry Sir, as far as I know. The Dip stick is not included in this model. The transmission fluid must be checked only by the professionals at the dealership's place using special tools for the job (so that the unit shouldn't be over runned by the user and for long life safety of the engine). You should contact the dealer near your place for the completion of the job!

How do you know that you need transmission fluid on a honda accord ex. I looked at the dip stick and saw nothing.

If you looked at the dip stick and saw nothing that is probably a bad sign. Most dip stick have markers on them in order to gauge how much fluid is in the transmission. Look at your dipstick closely and make sure you fill your transmission until it is between these markers. The markers are usually down by the end or tip of the dip stick. Be sure you do not over fill the transmission. I hope this helps you out at least a little.

Need to know how to add the transmission fluid

Manual transmission is easy. There is a fill plug on the left axle flange and a drain plug on the bottom (special bit required).

The automatic must be filled while running so it really isn't a DIY.

2009 Hyundai Sonata automatic transmission fluid changing, How to fill the tranmission, is there a fill plug? OR should i use the

You add fluid in the same pipe the dip stick is in. Remove the dip stick and insert a funnel and add fluid through there. Check it frequently since there is no way to remove fluid easily if you over fill the transmission.

Were is the trasmission fluid ..anything on this engin? cant find the dip stick or were to add fluid.

If it's a stander transmission you add under your truck on the side of the transmission where it reads fill, if it's automatic it's has to have and dip stick for that year truck.could be missing check the side of transmission above transmission pan toward the front for a hole where the tube goes in, it would also be leaking if gone.

How to check transmission fluid and fill if nessesary.

if it is an automatic transmission, the dip stick is under the hood and should be on the drivers side of the engine, start the car leave it in park, pull the dip stick out and wipe it off with a cloth, reinstall the dip stick in the filler tube completely, and remove again and notice where the fluid level is on the dip stick,if you need to add fluid to bring it up to full, the correct fluid for your car is printed on the dip stick, you need a transmission funnel and put in in the tube you pulled the dip stick out of.
if you transmission is a standard, there is a 5/8 bolt on the side of the transmission you remove and put something like a screw driver in the hole to see where the fluid level is,.

Cant find dip stick for tranny fluid 2004 sunfire

GM went to sealed transmissions. That car doesn't have a transmission dipstick.

There's a fill bolt that needs to be removed from the transmission while the car is on a level surface. If transmission fluid comes out, then you're at the proper level. Otherwise fill until fluid starts to come out. (Similar to what would be done on a manual transmission)

Look at the top of the transmission for a little red cap(like the oil fill cap) this is where you add fluid. If you want to check fluid condition, you need to remove cap and stick something in there and smear the fluid on a piece of paper to see color.

Hope this helps you out

Cant find where to fill transmission fluid on my 2001 volkswagon passat

I'm not an expert on Volkswagens, but on all the cars I've ever owned, transmission fluid was added directly down the tube that houses the transmission fluid dip stick. Remove the dip stick and use a funnel with a narrow opening. I hope this helps you out.

How can i put transmission fluid into my car,how much do i put in

Check the Level of the transmission fluid by pulling the Transmission dip stick. The colour of the dip stick is most likely red in colour and you need to check it with the car's engine running and hot. Pull the dip stick out clean it off and check it again. always check the second reading.
To fill the transmission, you need to fill it through the Transmission dip stick tube. Yes your going to need a thin funnel and good luck. Do not over fill the transmission. over filling will cause damage to the transmission.
Best thing is, if you have not done a transmission oil and filter change. Have it done at a Transmission shop and you'll know that the transmission level is fine and have them show you have to check and fill the Transmission. As time goes by and mileage get's high, the fluid will get contaminated and the filter plugged up which would in turn cause a transmission failure.
Good luck and hope this helps. Oh and the type of transmission fluid should be in your manuel or stamped on the dip stick.
