We have a 2002 Sante fe Automatic AWD. We seem to lose power and cannot get up to highway speed. The ransmission down shifts the engine revs but we constantly lose power and the engine is at max rev. I have to back off on the gas pedal to make it shift to a higher gear but little to no speed increase then it shifts to a lower gear and the engine revs and we start the process again. We have had it scan checked and there are no trouble codes. The engine seems to run just fine but we have no power.

As far as I know the 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe did NOT have a CVT transmission, rather a 4 speed automatic. Mine went well over 300,000 miles (see photo) with original trans and engine.

Tune up spark plugs, wires, check fuel filter, etc... Check distributor, change transmission fluid and coolant. If you need a new distributor I would try looking for a used one online.

ck fluid level,,ck color or smell it to see if it smells burnt,,trans filter could be plug up

I had the same thing! It was a computer issue. It only cost me about $35.00.

It sounds like the idle speed actuator is part of the issue. I would also have the exaust inspected for a blocked catalytic converter.
