I have a 1995 Chevy c/k 1500 4x4 regular cab 8' box with a 5.7L and auto transmission. There are 120K miles on the truck While driving my speedometer, odometer, gear indicator and tach stop working, gauge light comes on, and, most importantly, the truck will not shift automatically anymore. The truck stays in 3 gear. If I come to a stop, it will not shift down, but I can shift it down manually. any idea?? Thanks If I stop, shut the engine off, wait a few minutes and restart, the problem goes away for a while.

Sorry, not exactly sure what you mean. An ECM?

    Thanks

As it turns out, it was an ignition module.  Not anything to do with the ignition (where the key goes in) but a wire harness in the steering column.  Who knew?

I have a 95 k2500 350 just put in a new tranny and less than 90days later there is little to no pressure. Thinking it is a bad pump but could be the ecu thing as well since the previous tranny went out the same way. If you know where to locate it any help would be great! c = 2wd k = 4wd

Check your CPU. Might need to be replaced.

  • Anonymous Jul 18, 2008

Yea. Basically the trucks little computer. I'm sorry I'm not too familiar with 95' Chevy but there is a computer for it and it is probably dying out. Usually in situations like the one your having would be Computer related. CPU = Central Processing Unit -or- ECU = Electronic Control Unit. You are going to be looking for a box where most of the wires are headed to (not the fuse box) and replace it. Usually a Copper or Silver color box. This is easy to replace... once you find it. All you have to do is unplug the connectors and plug them into a new unit.

    I hope this helps.

You might try replacing the thermostat. Hows the heater work? That will give you a clue. A stuck or defective thermostat will cause poor fuel mileage and poor heater performance. This vehicle needs a
192-195 degree thermostat to operate correctly.
