If you haven't changed the transmission yet, try changing your transmission fluid..

I had the same problem and took it in the dealer. The teeth from the gear broke off. They had to replace the whole trans. at their expense.

2005 Altima auto zone code po725 poor connection between pcm and tcm what does this mean , check engine light is on how can I resolve this issues?

Google any codes you get

Nissan PO725

There are lots of sites with more info
than could ever read or understand

You have gotten the codes & now know you have
transmission issues,so you should stop using any
vehicle with any transmission problem immediately
& not drive one mile until resolved

You can ruin a trans in less than ten miles, if you use it
not knowing the problem

When putting car in drive it hesitates before it goes into gear, sometimes it is quick, sometimes it takes forever in my 2004 Nissan Altima

Yes, but you can have similar problems on the outside of the transmission if your car uses cables to shift. If the cables are binding or dry they can bind in one direction and move freely in the other. Temperature can also affect the cable shift or internal transmission parts

Now sometimes internal transmission parts can bind or hang in place. Valve bodies could do it and sometimes electric solenoids could stick.

What I would do is disconnect the shift cable if your vehicle uses one. Some vehicles use electric wires with no mechanical cables. Then shift the cable or have a helper do it. Remember some lockouts will still require a foot on the brake pedal to allow a shift. If no binding is detected the problem is something else.

The next cheapest move is having the filter and fluid changed. Your manufacturer may have a recommended cleaner to add before the change.

There are a few tests which a technician can do with pressure guages. This will help diagnose a flow problem.

Please rate my info.

1994 nissan altima sometimes sluggish at take off, high rpms when changing gears

This sounds like a slipping transmission , check the fluid level first and make sure its full, if its full then you have ****** problems and may need to have ****** rebuild done,

Another thing is to make sure the trans passing gear cable is connected at the throttle where the gas cable is.

2001 Nissan Altima idling high in parking or neutral

I have the same problem with my harrier 3000cc car. We have changed the idling sensor, airflow sensor. air filter, we have had the throttle checked, spark plugs, wiring and nothing works. The smell you are getting could be from your gear box, have it checked out early and if the gear shift is noticeable then you will need a gearbox specialist to open it and change the clutch plates. Good luck.

WHERE IS THE SPEED SENSOR LOCATED ON THE 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA?

As long as your are talking abt your speed sensor it's in your transmission. You can remove it without dropping it farely easy on a lift. Just follow the cable going into it and it just unscrews out. It's just a little plastic gear that reads how fast you're going.

If car shakes violently when brakes are pressed, this is probably the rotors.

If car will not shift gears, you better get your wallet out, because it is probably your transmission. An engine diagnosis will not pick this up.
