It depends if you really like the car or not how much it costs.and how many original miles your engine has on it now. It might be less expensive to find and put a good low mileage used motor in there instead vs. replacing the Head Gasket and rebuiling the Head.

I have a 1998 Cadillac Deville with a northstar engine. I am having an issue with overheating and water not being taken into my radiator. I was told when i first bought it that it had a blown head gas

If you bought a car with head gasket issues
replace them, don't use it & ruin the engine

We can't guess at all the cars possible problems

People sell a car when they don't want the expense
of fixing it

The type problem is best left to a person that works on their
own vehicles & gets it cheap, knowing they have lots of
work to do every were ,to restore many things

98 caddilac deville running hot

The water pump is in the back of the motor on this one, it requires a special socket to remove and replace. If you have been scratching your head on this one, Cadillac had head gasket bolt issues, the bolts stretch and the gasket leaks internally.

Can running a qt oil low cause spike in temperature cool down. Was 222 now 228 and scaring me. Thinking about trying Thermagasket for head leak.

Running one quart of oil will not cause engine to overheat under normal conditions. If you suspect you have a blown head gasket no product such as Thermagasket will fix this problem. You will need a new head gasket installed. A compression test will verify if you indeed have a blown gasket. If you are loosing coolant with no apparent leak, see white smoke from the exhaust, see a grey foamy substance on the underside of the oil fill cap, you probably have a blown head gasket. You need to have this looked at by a professional or you may destroy your engine.

We have a 1998 Cadillac Deville, we have to keep putting water in it everyday, its no leaking water, its like the water is just evaporating, there is no water in the oil, so what can the problem be?

Worst case it could the head gasket.Do you see any white smoke or moisture coming out of the tailpipe?
If the head gasket is blown the car will run a lot hotter than the normal (190 to 210 degree)....
You may need a mechanice to confirm this before panicking .
