Changing the O2 sensor for a P-0135? Use a TOYOTA sensor. The aftermarket/generic sensors do NOT work in Toyotas.

User with the smoking problem: Remove the valve cover & check for engine oil sludge where the cams ride. If it is sludged, a rebuild is necessary, BUT, Toyota DOES have warranty assistance for this issue. All you need are oil change receipts.

I have the check engine light on and the scan read P0135 error - what is this?

P0135 code is: Oxygen O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 1)

This code refers to the front oxygen sensor on Bank 1.

The heated circuit in the oxygen sensor decreases time needed to enter closed loop. As the O2 heater reaches operating temperature, the oxygen sensor responds by switching according to oxygen content of the exhaust surrounding it. The ECM tracks how long it takes for the oxygen sensor to begin switching. It the ECM determines (based on coolant temp) that too much time elapsed before the oxygen sensor began operating properly, it will set P0135.

Symptoms: You will likely notice poor fuel economy the illumination of the MIL.

Causes: A code P0135 may mean that one or more of the following has happened: O2 Heater element resistance is high Internal short or open in the heater element O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance open or short to ground in the wiring harness.

Possible Solutions: Repair short or open or high resistance in wiring harness or harness connectors Replace oxygen sensor (cannot repair open or short that occurs internally to sensor)

Trouble codeP1491,P0132,P0135 on 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 What does this mean?

P1491-This code is for the radiator fan control relay circuit.
This can be caused by bad wiring, a faulty fan, a bad thermostat and even a bad pcm. Most likely it is a wiring issue.
P0132 This involves the front oxygen sensor on Bank 1. This code indicates that the heated oxygen sensor reading is too high.
P0135 This code refers to the front oxygen sensor on Bank 1. The heated circuit in the oxygen sensor decreases time needed to enter closed loop.

What's wrong with my 1995 Toyota Avalon with Codes P0135 and P0773?

P0135 indicates that the heated oxygen sensor 1 on bank 1 is not functioning properly.

P0773
This is the torque converter lockup solenoid. Is the converter locking up? The solenoid can be accessed by removing the trans oil pan. Coil resistance is 10.16.9 ohm, check to see if the solenoid operates when 12DC is applied.

Can also be the wiring to the solenoid from ECU.

AutoZone will lend you the tools you need to change the O2 sensor . You "Buy" the tool ( about $25)and get a full refund when you return it.

Long skinny arms DO come in handy but you may be able to get to it from under the car also

What else can be giving me a P0135 reading on my toyota corolla 2006 model apart from a upstream oxygen sensor malfunction? i am afraid if i buy it there may be another issue. i have diconnected the...

I'm dealing with the exact same issue on a 2000 Solara. From the internet research I've done so far I've learned that the P0135 code indicates a failure of the heating circuit in the O2 sensor. If you've already replaced the O2 sensor (as I have) and still get the code, chances are that the problem lies in the wiring between the EFI controller and the O2 sensor, or with the ECM (engine computer) itself. There is a diagnostic procedure to determine the cause, but it's not for the average do-it-yourself mechanic. If you're uncomfortable with in-depth diagnostics, you may want to pass this along to a Toyota technician. Good luck.
