Drain the coolant, connect or close all hoses and drain plugs, start motor and fill radiator with a 50/50 mix of water and anti-freeze, leave engine running, when motor gets hot the thermostat will open allowing the coolant to flow through the motor, in change the anti-freeze will get lower in the radiator thus you continue to fill untill full and the radiator will not except more coolant, ( this is how you get the air out) replace radiator cap and fill reservoir to cold level and your done. Recheck your coolant reservoir after you have driven the vehicle a bit and fill if necessary, do not fill to top, only fill to cool mark. the reservoir is not under pressure so you can fill at any time motor hot or cold

Drain the system as best you can from the petcock on the bottom of the radiator, refill while idling with pure water, allow it to reach operating temperature, drain the system again. Refill the system, leave the cap off and add as needed. It's hard to drain the system fully just from the drain on the radiator but using the same type of coolant is a must. If it's red get the dexcool coolant, if it's green stick with a good brand. The system will burp itself over the course of filling it. Once it's back to operating temperature make sure it's blowing heat from the vents and you're good to go.

It means someone tried to steal it.

Try this. It seems that 'Sandra' has helped a lot of people!

A SOLUTION!!!!!! THIS WORKED FOR US TODAY! Try turning the key and moving the shift from park to drive and back. Then try starting it again! It should start. We were ready to call a tow truck before trying this. It worked. Saved time and money!

I've been getting an anti-freeze smell in the cabin. Today, the windshield began to fog slightly with a terrible anti-freeze odor. This afternoon, the engine was running much hotter than usual. I...

if you r getting smell in car and fog on windshield, with known history for common problem, you have a heater core leaking, You could try a stop leak from a parts supplier, but you need a heater core, and is a rather big job, as entire dash needs to be pulled back to axcess

try stop leak, if that doesn't fix, you didn't waste alot of time and money

good luck, and if you wanna tackle job, let me know i will send guided steps to help you along

I need to change my struts and I dont know if I need any special tools or presses

You are going to need a compressor for removing the coil springs from the old struts and putting them on the new ones. You are going to need top strut mounts as yours are old. You are going to need some big wrenches with extenders to get the bottom bolts loose. You are going to need an alignment rack as the car will have to be aligned when put back together. You will need someone to operate the alignment rack. Try and track down some "quick struts" for your car these already have the new coil spring and mount installed. Save time and money. Look on ebay.

Don't know how to change fuel filter on this one.

This one takes a special tool to un-clip the fuel line from the filter. Aso,If you can't get the clip to release, you wind up cutting the filter ends off with a hacksaw. The money you thought you saved, just went into an all day project, laying on your back.Unless you want to buy a special tool you only use once in awhile, let someone replace it that has one.

Refilling Anti-Freeze

no ther isn't a special way to refill the radiator. the way they are describing it is a way that you wont get any air caught in the lines. otherwise you can just put anti-freeze in the radiator or the overflow tank.

Anti-freeze

the manual is stating that theres a lifetime warranty on the anti freeze through saab and/or your dealer. theyre trying to get the business back to their store instead of you going to pep boys or meineke. the maintenance manual is the one you should run by because im pretty sure no normal grade coolant/anti-freeze lasts 100K miles without getting milky or dirty.

really though, you should change the coolant every time you see it starts to get dirty or if youre low on it.
