SOURCE: 2000 VW Beetle will not start in cold, runs fine above 40 degrees

I was just reading the owners manual for my 2000 beetle and it says the diesel fuel has a problem with the wax separating from it below 40 degrees. Put the car in a warm garage and it will start.

I have a 2001 Durango with the 4.7 and had the same problem. I changed the Throttle Positioning Sensor, and it has been good ever since.

Heintermittent starter problems, 2000 beetle

There may be a dead spot in the starter. If it just clicks my recommendation is to replace the stater before it stops working all together. Good luck.

Turn my key to start car, 05 impala, and let go but sometimes sounds and acts like im still tryin to turn car over... What is this?

This is perfectly normal on 02 and up GM cars The starter will engage and release when the car's engine runs. If you let go of the switch before the engine runs, the vehicle will continue to start until the engine starts. Once the vehicle starts, even if you crank it again, it will not grind your starter because of the anti-grind feature built with that model. Do not worry my friend, your car is fine!

Intermittent starter problem, sometimes turns, sometimes not. changed battery, tested bad, starter worked twice, stopped turning. changed starter, still wont turn.

Many European cars have relays that trigger the starter, maybe yours is bad? New battery and new starter? Need to check battery connections to vehicle especially ground wire to engine block. Starter face and flywheel housing have to be clean for good ground connection.
When it won't start do you try key numerous times? Sometimes (rarely) bad keyswitch.

Cherokee intermitant grinding noise in neutral

Is it when the engine first starts? It sounds like to me that the starter is getting stuck in the fly wheel. what happens is when you go to start it, the solenoid push's the gear out and spins the gear almost one full action, the grinding noise could be the starter staying engaged after the motor has starter but quickly comes out of it after driving out of it. just a thought.

Check the battery voltage when running--it should be 13.5 to 14.5 volts DC. If it reads about 12 volts, the alternator or regulator may be near the end. Have it checked at your favorite auto parts store.

Noise when car is started

Sounds like the starter stays "sticked"on... Check the starter relay or after the sound goes away touch the starter for heat. If its too hot it means it stays on working even when the engine is allready running...
