Our 2000 model Toyota Landcruiser 1HD-FTE turbo diesel will just shutdown while driving (as if you just turned the key off) and the engine light appears. It will not restart for 2-3 hrs then it will start and run fine again for days/weeks. The vehicle has done 151,000 K's . We took it to a Toyota dealer who says it needs a new injector pump. Poor fuel in victoria is the reason. Could this be correct? Seems strange that it runs fine right until it stops then a rest for 2-3 hrs will allow it to restart and run fine again. We have always used Mobil fuel.
