Use green antifreeze that mixes with any type of antifreeze. A 50/50 mixture of antifreeze to water should work.

I wouldn't use other colors unless they say they mix with all antifreeze mixtures.

This has worked the best on my Hondas that I've owned over the years.

SOURCE: 1997 Honda Civic EX: Exhaust fumes coming inside

hi, this might help you:

at first make sure your air system is set to take the inside air of the car. this is the button with the car on it with above this little car a circular arrow like as if air circulates only within the car, or like the air from the outside wont circulate inside the car.

if not:

if possible get a expert to do a check up of the body/chassis, it might be in a condition where rust has made wholes in eg a part under your seat.

it might also be that something is wrong with the ventilation part of your honda, like 'tubes' are leaking within the engine bay or??? something like that.

ive had a honda, not this problem, but i think it'll be something with the isolation and or the plates between the chassis 'bars'....

hope you'll find a solution soon.

Why do I have oil in my 1997 honda civic coolant reservoir tank.

A few things could have happen,
1 you overheated and blew the head gasket and now the oil in mixing with the anti-freeze,
OR due to high Mileage the head gasket has just failed and is leaking into the anti-freeze journals inside the engine.,

Did you check the oil to make sure it's not a white'ish sludge on the inside of the cap, you might be mixing both back and forth..

Is it sare to remove the expansion valve of the radiator

NO. The thermostat valve maintains the engine temperature which is good for engine performance, pollution control and fuel economy. But don't forget to use the radiator coolant which has added benefits because it is antifreeze, anti boil, has leakage detecting fluorescence color and rust inhibitors in it.
