Signal and brake lights

When I press the brake pedal, the left signal light indicator on the dash dimly lights up and flashes rapidly. If I make a left signal while the left signal dash indicator is lit (eg. I have pressed the brake pedal before signalling), the signal light works, but at a much faster pace than normal. If I signal first, then press on the brake, the signal light works normally.

There is no similar problem with the right side signal lights when I apply the brakes.

popping number 7 fuse, no dash lights, and brake pedal makes the radio light dim

  • Anonymous Mar 16, 2014

All of a sudden, the brake lights lit up on my van while it was parked and off. When the brakes are applied, the light intensifies a bit, the upper center light does not work at all. Pulled the fuse and switch from under the dash and the lights stayed on. Right turn signal crackles and stays solid while the left brake light dims, the left turn signal works fine. Hazards stay solid. Please help!

07 Impala rear driver side brake light and turn signal does not work, but when I checked the bulb it was working just not when I press the brake. The left turn signal on the dash also blinks rapidly.

Sounds like a possible bad ground connection.
Make sure the contacts for the bulb are clean.
Make sure the cround connection is not corroded.

No Tail Lights Working

You probably pinched a wire when you put the bed back on. You most likely have a blown fuse as further proof that you shorted out everything in the back of the truck.
Recheck all your wiring paths.

Lights dim

Was any of the brake light bulbs changed recently, the wrong type of bulb may be used causing a short in the socket, and making the rest of the brake and signal circuit malfunction. I no bulbs were recently replaced, start with checking for corrosion in each bulb socket, signal and brake bulb sockets. Let us know what you find

Brake/Signal Lights Problem.

Sounds like a ground problem to me. Bulbs are not getting there ground to complete the circuit so they backfed through the other bulbs.

Left turn indicator comes on dimly with application of brakes. No bulbs out.

Lots of possibilities, but the most common is a bad ground of the entire light assembly on the left rear.
That makes the left rear brake filament ground back up through the left rear turn signal ground, through the left rear signal filament, and all the way back up to the dash left indicator light, then finally to chassis ground. Just check if the left brake and left signal are both dim and come on together.

99 silhouette.all bulbs are in working order.right (not left) signal flashes fast when headlights are on and even worse when brakes depressed(lights on or off).also lights on both rears are real strange on...

I had similar symptoms - rapid flashing of directional when headlights on and brake depressed when making a left turn, both directional indicators in dash light dimly when brake depressed, "Check Traction Control System" indicator On even with ATC turned Off and "strange" indications in tail lights.

Check the pins in the connector at the Lamp Holder Assembly for your Rt. Tail Light for arcing and corrosion. (The female pin is in the vehicle harness connector and the male is part of the Lamp Holder Assembly.) If found, because the male connector is part of the Lamp Holder Assembly, you'll have to replace the Lamp Holder Assembly and the harness section coming in from the vehicle containing the female connector.

I just repaired this problem in the left tail light on my '01 van with a part from a '99 van I found at a local salvage yard.
