While driving there is a high pitch sound that comes from the front end of vehicle at higher speeds but not all the time...also when turning right it tends to go away but turning left it comes back
I had the same problem - 2005 freestar. High-pitched squealing noise, not all the time. Mostly on right turns - best part I couldn't hear it all the time. The wife heard it every time. NOT brakes, It was the front hub assembly. It has sealed bearings. I bought a new one $220.00, No more noise - now 15 months later its time to spend the $220.00 again - the local O'reilly's has them in stock now - go figure...
Front wheel bearings. We have a 2004 Limited and ended up getting both replaced (at different times) paid for by Ford. We only had 40,000 km on the vehicle at the time and had to fight Ford to cover the cost. The did come through in the end.
The other thing that I can think of, seeing how I own the same year van and have the same problem is the wheel bearings. The reason for this is that we would ocassionally hear noise from the front, but not consistant. Then we were forced to go through water over our tires and it got worse until it dried out as well as is a continuous squeal at 25+ mph.
We have the same problem with our 05 Freestar. Power steering is fine. We replaced the brake pads and now it is making a different sort of squeaking sound....more of a sound that is in tune with the wheels rotating. Hard to explain but it happens after the brake is released like if we are going over a speed bump or turning a corner.
Maybe yall should check the power steering pump.Hubby said it could be that. Repost and let us know if and when yall get it fixed!
The problem you have is a bad bearing seal. If you only had the bearings replaced and not the whole bearing hub assembly ($220), you may still hear this "whistling" high pitch noise. The annoying sound seems to occur on a warm dry day with temps 65+. The sound usually starts after driving the van 15mins at speeds exceeding 30-40mph. Once the van exceeds speeds of 60mph, the sound can become loud and irritating! Slightly steering either left or right causes the noise to stop. If the weather is rainy or cold, you will probably not hear the noise and think that the problem has fixed itself. But just wait until the day warms up to 80+ degrees. Each time you pass a car, drive under a bridge or through a tunnel, the noise will drive you crazy enough to break your piggy bank and run to your mechanic to have it taken care of! Order a bearing hub assembly with TIMKEN brand bearings! Don't settle for less! This is a guaranteed FixYa!

i have the same sound with my 2005 ford freestar , we thought it was the brakes............or roders
Our Freestar started doing a high picthed noise as well, We replaced the brakes and it is still doing it. It doesn't do it all the time though. Any help with this issue would be great.
My 2005 Freestar has the same high pitch sound problem. It comes and goes. It does not matter at what speed you drive although it occurs more often at highway speeds.
We have the same problem. It occurs at high speeds and once we slow down to about 30 mph it goes away. Thought it was the brakes but replacing them did nothing. Turning the steering wheel makes it stop but then it comes back. Wish someone could figure it out cuz when I bring it in they can never have it happen.
I have a 2004 Freestar SEL and it also has the high pitch noise. It has since about 30,000, now has 55,000 and is out of warranty. Of course the dealer never could hear it... It's out of warranty now. I had never owned anything but a Ford in over 22 years of driving, THIS is my last FORD! My last purchase was a Toyota Camry, incidently made in Kentucky while the Ford was made in Canada.
Radio comes on and the sound is mostly bass and can hardly hear anybody singing. There is no high pitch sounds at all
When going at higher speed, and turning on left curve the humming sound sounds stronger than when turning right
it's not every time ,but most.
