We have a 1994 Grand Voyager and the catalytic converter is turning bright red, and it is only 1 month old. The van is hesitant when taking off and sounds like it is running on 3 cylinders. Check engine light stays on.

Sounds like one or more of your fuel injectors is stuck open and dumping raw gas into the exhaust system. I would replace all the injectors since there was sugar run through it.
these engines have 1 upstream o2 sensor and 1 downstream o2 sensor..the 1 in the rear exhaust manifold is the upstream and the 1 after the converter is the downstream..make sure you replaced the right one
I had the same problem with mine. It ended up being the catalytic converter was clogged.
Have someone get under the van and rattle (kick, hit with hammer or something) the catalytic converter. If you hear a "rattleing" sound - then that's your problem.
pop the hood and look behind the engine in the middle....you'll see o2 sensor on the top of the exhaust pipe unplug it and remove it ............second o2 sensor is located on the same pipe under the passanger seat under the car
It is an emissions problem. Or sensor problem. Take it for a trouble code scan at Autozone or similar store . They will do a scan for free. You may need to replace the catalytic converter. That cherry red pipe sounds serious.it should not be like that at all.
