Car died after 3 days having battery charging light on. I brought it to a specialist in alternator. He said the Alternator IC is broken, either bypass or buy a new one. I decided to buy new one. Problem solved . Cost me 300 dollars for labor and new alternator

Hi, I can't tell you exactly what is wrong because there is too much involved at this point, what with 2 shops working with it, but I can give you some advise on what else to check. On the alternators and the wiring that supports them a small volt charge is taken off one of the slip rings, where the brushes ride, for the purpose of turning out the light. As I remember, this is a yellow wire that runs back to the dash.
To the alternator, it would be one of the wires that plug into the side of the alternator case.

The first thing I would do is remove the alternater and take it to an auto parts store and have them check it. If the alternater is working good, then check the belts are routed and have the right tension. Either of these can keep the battery from charging. It's very common that a rebuilt alternater isn't working properly. If all these things are correct, check the live wire to the alternater is live. If it isn't alive you have problems in the wiring and I would take it to a mechanic.

Hi,
There has been known issues with the alternator on several year/versions of this car. If memory serves me right, there was a TSB for the alternator either over or undercharging.The TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) specifies replacing the alternator and re-flashing the PCM.(Powertrain Control Mudule).
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

I have the same problem with my battery. I got a new battery and tested the alternator, everything was ok. My air bag light was on all of the time and nothing was wrong with the air bag. My car died out of the blue and couldn't even be jump started!! I got another battery and checked to see if my car would hold the charge and it was fine. So crazy.
