Power steering renault clio 2000

First it started having a loud noise when being driven on a straight road that sounded like plastic flapping or gravel stuck somewhere on drivers side of the car, but the noise stopped, but then so did the power steering.Have checked the power steering fluid and there is still some in the tank and it doesnt look to be leaking, any suggesions to wat the problem is???? thanks

The car has 2 belts. 1 for the alternator. the other for the power steering. the sound you heard could have been the belt snapping . check under the bonnet on the driver side.

Flapping noise seems to come from drivers side like something caught and slapping against the road

look for loose mud flaps. check under the front of the vehicle as there is a plastic panel from under the radiator back to the front cross member. This is light weight plastic and held in position by small plastic plugs/clips Hitting something on the road (small bird-- clump of rag or parking over a tire stop in the parking centre )will break it and it hangs down and flaps as you drive.

Power steering Renault Clio

I could be wrong, but I believe that model of clio is fitted with electric power steering. The electric motor is fitted inside the car on the steering column. If there is a problem with the steering it will need to be checked by a renault dealer. The power steering motor thermal cut out is a common issue.

My car which is a Clio sport 182 humms when I get over 50 mph and when I turn right it's really loud what could this be ?

if it's front wheel drive it's the CV axle on the right going out , they'll make more noise turning than driving straight .

Renault Clio 02 enging rattling

If it materializes when the engine is under load it could be the fuel you are using. Try a higher grade fuel. Also a common cause of engine rattle is from the exhaust manifold head Shields. These are made of sheet metal and rust out causing what you have described.
