Check your Fuel pressure, being the car is fuel injected and a 98, odds are it is Sequencial Injection. If the fuel pump doesnt pump the proper amount of pressure the fuel pressure regulator wont give the engine gas.
i HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2001 GTP. REPLACED THE PUMP AND FILTER STILL A PROBLEM. FINALLY REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP RESISTOR LOCATED UNDER THE RIGHT FRONT FENDER, NO MORE PROBLEM.
