All there is . is a circlip on end of trans axel, it should just pull right out. get a bar behind axel at tranny if possible and try it again. good-luck !! a ouick snap of the bar should remove axel shaft. when putting back in, just push as hard as possible, and check to make sure the circlip is in place. pull on shaft a bit to make sure its locked in place at tranny end.

There is a "C" clip that holds it in there. Put your pry bar on the fat part of the halfshaft (axle) and give it a few smacks with a hammer. These jolts should knock it loose to be able to remove it. If you cant get room to hit it with a hammer you will have to use a pry bar and just keep working at it on both sides.

SOURCE: front drivers side axle removal

There's not any special tools. You need a socket to fit the nut on the end of the axle and a wrench to take the nut and bolt off the bottom ball joint that slides through the control arm. Take a bar, pry down on lower control arm, pulling ball joint out, then pull the upper part out by hand, away from the car, slide axle out of the bearing assembly. Take a pry bar, put between trans and axle, give it a swift, quick ****. The axle should come out. Remember to always put jack stands under the car and be safe. Phil

Is it necessary to remove the cv axle to remove the transmission from a 2001 ford escort?

interesting challenge! if the axle nut is not rounded there are some powerful electric impact guns out there, the other side of the street, the transmission once unbolted and the axle pryed loose and there is enough room between sub frame and engine it will come out, automatic is easier but heavier... heat wrench would be nice (torch)

My 04 Cadillac Deville is leaking tranny fluid on the driver side near the wheel. It seems to only do it when i carnk up and pull off in reverse or brake to turn into my driveway.i have multiple dotted...

Hello: First check the red cap on top of the transmission (driver side under the hood) You may have to remove part of the air cleaner assembly to access it. Make sure it has a "O" ring seal on it. You have to push it down then turn it to lock it. If the cap is on correctly and it leaks then the left axle seal may be bad or the gasket on the side cover or at worst the side cover could be broken. All the above needs to be checked. Happy New Year.

How di i install frontr axle on 97 eclipse

Try lining up the splines on the axle with the tranny, then tap the end of the axle (goes thru the wheel hub) with a brass hammer. Should be tight, but dont hit it hard enough to damage the axle shaft. If it still wont go in, look at the splines on the transaxle, they may be damaged.

Kia spectra transmission removel?

Sometimes the axles on these do hang up. The best way to remove these is to take 2 pry bars to place on either side and very sharply, pull quickly and the axle should break free. You should feel it pop. Do not pull on the other end of the axle. It can disconnect the joint from the inside and the you have to remove the clamp and reset the joint.

Mazda 626

First put a jackstand under the car have it jacked up fairly high where you can get under it easily then take a really strong regular screw driver or a small pry bar slide up between tranny and the axle piece you are trying to get out and tap with your hand or a rubber mallet the bottom of the pry bar or the handle of the screw driver towards the opposite side of the car of what you are working on.

CV Axle removal and installation

The axle should be able to be removed by using a flat ended pry bar tool with a dull flat end. Or possibly a very large flat screw driver. Put the pry bar between the axle and transmission. With light pressure, the axle should pop out of the transmission. The axle just snaps into the transmission. There should be no need or cause to damage the seal because the seal is inset into the transmission. Just watch what you are doing. As far as replacing the seal, I do not know. I have not had to do that yet, and I have replaced both sides with new boots more than once.
