All there is . is a circlip on end of trans axel, it should just pull right out. get a bar behind axel at tranny if possible and try it again. good-luck !! a ouick snap of the bar should remove axel shaft. when putting back in, just push as hard as possible, and check to make sure the circlip is in place. pull on shaft a bit to make sure its locked in place at tranny end.
There is a "C" clip that holds it in there. Put your pry bar on the fat part of the halfshaft (axle) and give it a few smacks with a hammer. These jolts should knock it loose to be able to remove it. If you cant get room to hit it with a hammer you will have to use a pry bar and just keep working at it on both sides.

There's not any special tools. You need a socket to fit the nut on the end of the axle and a wrench to take the nut and bolt off the bottom ball joint that slides through the control arm. Take a bar, pry down on lower control arm, pulling ball joint out, then pull the upper part out by hand, away from the car, slide axle out of the bearing assembly. Take a pry bar, put between trans and axle, give it a swift, quick ****. The axle should come out. Remember to always put jack stands under the car and be safe. Phil
