2006 ford freestar 4.2 temperature gage fluctuates at 100km changed thermostad ok for 3 months now its doing it again mechanic repaired leak on intake manifold though that might be problem but it still doing it , changed sensor ,still doing it.as on another post the person said it could be the fins on the waterpump ,I have allready spend $800.00 dollars on repairs I cannot spend more to replace waterpump if that is not going to solve . Can any one help.

Could be bad fuel injectors, as the _simplest_ easy-to-fix problem. (Also most likely problem). Past that, you're in better hands with the dealership repair shop (seriously). Don't have this repaired anywhere else. You'll pay for way more than you actually need anywhere other than the dealer for this type of problem.
If no hose leaks and engine coolant is fine in radiator. I would say its a faulty thermostat. A malfunctioning thermostat would result in temperature fluctuations throughout the operation of the engine. God-Bless!
Sounds as if fins are worn on waterpump. A pump doesnt need to leak or you to smell it for it to be bad. My bets waterpump, 24 yrs as a ford senior master behind this thought...
