Had starting problems and cleaned terminal wires, car started. Yesterday same problem, adjusting wires did not work. Had battery jumped, car started. I warmed up car for 5 minuted before driving. Car went about 1/4 mile then everything suddenly stopped cold. No dash lights, no "buzz" from battery - nothing electrical operated except very weak door locks. No action when key turned - electrically dead HELP

I would say that you need to replace the alternator. The car was running on the batteries power. When you drove the car, it ran the battery completely dead.

Starter problems, Suggestions???

Starters tend to fail intermittently. Yes, if it started after a "whack", I woul suggest replacing your starter. Make sure all connections are tight and of course clean terminals and cables.

Why doesn't it turn over or start?

Take the car, or the battery, to a car parts store and have it tested. Usually the problem is a bad battery, unless it is a problem of corrosion on the terminals.
Understand that corrosion can not only prevent starting, it can prevent the battery from taking a charge to recharge it from the starting draw.
The terminals must be not only clean, but "metal-shiny-bright :" on the posts and the terminals themselves.
God bless your efforts.

WHY WONT MY FREELANDER START.

My guess is the engine ground connection is poor. When you jump it the other vehicle makes a connection through the jump lead. When you go solo there is no ground to make your starter work. Test it by running a jump cable from the battery neg terminal to a good clean spot on the engine. If it fires up then check / clean the battery neg wire to engine terminals. By the way, never disconnect the battery while the engine is running, it will fry the alternator!!

Check your starter solenoid. Sometimes the wires loosen, or the solenoid just goes bad. Check to make sure all wires are firmly attached. Hope this helps.

The CCA;s(cold cranking amps) are too low on your battery. When this happens your car usually only starts when its cold. Recommend testing your battery and probably replacing it. Good luck, keep me posted.
