If he dosen't have the diagram of the timing marks, ' I wouldn't let him touch it'. I would have a qualified Tech look at it.

Stiff power steering problem

you probably need to check your powersteering fluid. if it is low, try adding some, if it is full you need to replace the pump. Mine has went out in similar circumstances.

'82 Volvo wagon- I was informed 2weeks ago I need

Are you talking about a manual gearbox or auto?

The only situation a snapped belt would have an effect on an auto-box, would be if it were driving a manual (non electric) radiator cooling fan, snapped, and were then unable to cool the radiator and autobox oil radiator.
I doubt very much this is your setup though, so no. Your belts wouldn't have an effect on your gearbox.
Your drive belts would typically drive any or all of the following:

1) Alternator
2) Power steering pump
3) Water pump
4) A.C. compressor

When i switch my mazda rx 8 (2004) there is no powersteeering. After a while let say ten minutes it comes in.

look there is no spare parts for the powersteering bump but before any things you should check the powersteering bump belt if it ok or if it need to tension . other wise you have to change the bump

Brake light and battery lights are on in a 2006 nissan quest

This just happened to us. While driving the Brake and Battery light went on. These signs do point to the alternator not charging. Eventually car wouldnt accelerate. What happened is that our alternator belt fell off. 5 hours after being towed belt was changed and we drove off... turn on the a/c and loud squeal! Turn off a/c and its gone. Back at the shop were told the a/c unit seized somewhere causing the alternator belt to snap while we were driving down the highway (Apparently they share a pulley or something.. still gotta look that up as soon as we get back home) Both lights went on because the alternator wasnt charging. Cant turn on a/c for the rest of the trip or were stranded for hours again. Check ur belts, pullies, a/c unit and test alternator.. hope this helps u guys

Ford f350 i changed belt tensener assembly and idler pully only to have it start pulsation in the brake pedal and steering wheel when turning right and left it does this in park and while driving but only...

So is the Power Steering fluid level OK? did you drive it at all with the belt off? If so there is air in the system and it may work its way out. Or at the most have a Vacuum pump connected to the reservoir and the air evacuated out of the system.
