I have a 2006 vw t5 1.9tdi , i have recently had new clutch and flywheel fitted . A short while ago my van has started to make a whinning noise at just over 2000rpm but when rpm drops below 2000rpm noise vanishes . So when i take off in 1st gear and i hit 2000rpm the noise appears when i change to next gear the noise appears again at 2000rpm and so on as i change up the gears although it does not seem to be there in 5th gear. This problem might not be gearbox related but would appreciate any advice . Regards Dave.

Cause of whinning noise when trying to start xg350 motor does not turn over. Not a clicking sound but a high pitched whinning sound.

1) Most likely.
Your starter is an electric motor, with a gear on one end.
Mounted on that same end is a part called a "Bendix" or an "overrunning clutch".
When that just mentioned part fails, the starter will not engage the flywheel, and you will get the noise of which you spoke.
2) Less likely.
If your timing belt fails, he engine will turn over at a high rate of speed, but it will not start.
God bless your efforts.

Vibration between 20-25 in 3rd gear and 28-32mph in 4th gear

did you replace the clutch plate as well as the clutch ? as not doing so it can be warped from the heat of old one burning out. also did you check the flywheel as any imperfections in the plate can cause clutch wobble.

Whinning noise from engine when changing gear went to pull off in 1st gear car stalled and now cannot engae gears is this just the clutch cable or something else

Hi, I think the noise you were getting while changing gear is most likely to be the clutch release
bearing ( as you press the clutch down the release bearing contacts the clutch pressure plate
fingers ).
The whinning noise is the bearing seizing up,
Unfortunately it looks like yours has damaged the fingers of the pressure plate so the clutch is not disengaging to allow you to select a gear.
A clutch kit will need to be fitted this contains clutch plate, pressure plate, release beaing
I hope this dos`nt turn out to be to expensive for you

05 new shape passat.fitted new clutch kit with flywheel.on bleeding clutch pedal went hard approx 1 inch short of full travel, when pushed further it popped the seal on slave cylinder.refitted another slave...

the only way that the seal pops is when the piston comes out the end of the cylinder that indicates that the installation of the clutch kit is incorrect and the throw out arm is not in the throw out bearing carrier properly
regardless of makes , if the clutch kit is made for that vehicle it will fit

My 1999 vw passat makes a whinning noise but only when i push the excelerater. It sounds like the power steering but it doesn't make the noise when i turn.

more likely to be the cambelt tensioner.DONT TAKE CHANCES,fit a new belt/tensioner ASAP.(should be changed every 80k MAX).

Manual transmission noise

It's most likely your throw-out bearing. It's located very inconveniently on the front shaft of the transmission and the way to remove and replace is to pull the tranny from the car... While you're at it, inspect the clutch and pressure plates and the pilot bushing (located in the center of the flywheel).

Peugeot 106 1.5D. the clutch was slipping so new clutch fitted 2 weeks ago. It was still slipping so that garage replaced the clutch again. Guess what? It is still slipping. Any idea what is going on?

Yes clutch pedal should start to drive about 1inch off the floor and when driving keep your foot away from the pedal,/ also when new clutch is fitted did they fit a complete clutch assy /and did they surface grind the flywheel as if it was badly worn on the 1st one then the new one wouldent last very long.
as when the clutch starts to drive 1" from the floor clutch is good /when it engages right out its buggered and slips so ask about the f/wheel
