Hello there, I have a golf S SDI 2005 and the drivers side door seems to not be completely shutting (almost like a spring has gone on the main catch or something). Just wondering if there are any quick solutions before popping it over to the garage! Cheers guys.

Hi yes, you can try adjusting the striker pin that the door closes on, this might be loose or just pushed back a bit, just adjust it forward a few mill at a time then tighten it...

Drivers side door will not catch when door is closed it will just bounce away. the door handle does not seem to be as spring loaded as passenger side thanks

Look on the end of the door and you will see the slot where the door catch is located. It should line up with a big stud sticking out from the post by the drivers seat. The gap should be open. If you see a piece of steel blocking the slot, then the door catch is already in the latched position. Insert a screwdriver into the bottom of that catch and pull it up into the open position. If that is the problem, the door will work after that. Hope that helps

How to change drivers door latch on vw golf sdi 1999 as drivers door opens when driving

Have you tried using WD-40 to help the lock from sticking you may not need replace it.
However if you feel it's necessary ...you need to remove the inside door panel with the window up remove the two bars that are you inner lock and door handle levers a plastic clip holds them into place on the lock itself .a drop light is very helpful once the levers are disconnected remove the outer screws on the door itself the lock should fall off from the inside at this point ...install new lock and reinstall rods { levers} to the lock itself test before reinstalling door panel then secure when confident it works properly

Horn blows randomly when closing doors

Horns have constant power all the time so when you press the horn button, all you are doing is grounding the circuit and that makes the horn blow. Usually what happens is that a spring breaks underneath where the horn button is or something allows the horn button to ground out somewhere, possibly even through the inside of the steering column.

VW Polo 2001 - Electric Windows wont open from Drivers side..

I removed all 3 switches from driver and passenger door, which is really easy with a flat head screw driver. took them completely apart, very carefully, with a small screwdriver out of a christmas cracker. put them back together again and 2 switches started working, so I put 1 in the drivers side and 1 in the passengers side so now my drivers door window opens and I lean over to open the passenger door. cool, no money spent...yet ;o)
