When a heater core leaks, a new heater core is installed or the old one repaired.
Heater Housing

  • The heater housing is usually under the dash and must be removed to gain access to the heater core.
  • Procedures for replacing the heater core vary with the year, make, and model of car. It threfore necessary to consult the manufacturer's repair manuals for the proper procedure for replacement.
Need step. By step images - f74-01.gif The heater housing is disassembled to get to the heater core. Heater Core
  • Remove the access panels(s) or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain acess to the heater core.
  • Remove the heater coolant hoses.
  • Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped).
  • Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps.
  • Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of the heater core when removing.
  • To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps.
When the heater core leaks and must be repaired or replaced, it is a very difficult and time-consuming job primarily because of the core's location deep within the firewall of the car. For this reason always leak test a replacement heater core before installation.

Hi i havegot heater martix problem wwith my honda civc, the heat doesn't get any hot and there is water in the passenger

you might have two problems one might the thermostat and the second might be the heater core leaking causing no heat condition.but if you have air conditoning you might have a heater valve that is not working.or also the vent at the bottom of the heater box outside is plugged.

How do i get to my heater core 1995 ford crown vic

Your heater core is located behind the dash. You need to remove the dashboard and your heater core will be located on the passenger side along the firewall. It will look like a small radiator. Get yourself a haynes manual for good step by step instructions and pictures to remove your dash.

Step by step replacing heater core in 1999 escort removel 1998 ford escort heater core i have every thing unhooked evering under dash dash unhookrd and all bolts remover the heater box wont come out

If bolts won't come out and you've taken the nuts off, Then they are stiuds.Locate the heater hoses where they enter the firewall. The heater core is right on the other side of firewall. Which you probably already know. Good luck
