The brake light switch is mounted to the brake pedal bracket assembly, under the instrument panel. The stop lamp switch attached to the mounting bracket.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Unplug the two brake switch wiring harness connectors.
  3. Remove the wiring harness for the switch from the clip on the brake pedal bracket assembly. Remove the nut and washer from the switch and bracket assembly stud and remove the switch and bracket assembly. To install:
  1. Position the switch and bracket assembly to the brake pedal bracket assembly, then install the nut and lockwasher. Tighten the retaining nut for the bracket until finger-tight (loose enough to allow movement of the bracket).
  2. Attach the electrical wiring harness connectors and route the wire through the retainer clip.
  3. Push the switch forward (toward the front of the vehicle) as far as it will go (this will cause the brake pedal to move forward slightly).
  4. Gently pull backward (toward the rear of the vehicle) on the brake pedal until the pedal lever rests against the its stop. This will ratchet the switch back to its properly adjusted position.
  5. Tighten the switch and bracket assembly mounting bracket nut securely.

My brake lights don't work. I've changed the bulbs & checked the fuse. any ideas?

You could check the brakelight switch located on the brake pedal linkage. Sometimes they move out of adjustment, sometimes they fail. The ones I've seen are usually plastic and the threads strip off so the jamb nut won't hold the switch in place correctly. It should be round (or at least the part with the mounting nut should be round) with a plug with 2 or 3 wires going into the back and located so that the brake pedal lever moves away from the switch when you push on the pedal. If you deem that it needs to be replaced the switch should be available at most auto parts stores.

Toyo dyna 92 break lights not working , is there a fuse for this or is it hard wired bulbs ,work fine , ?

There is a fuse for the brake lights. Check fuse and replace if blown. If the fuse is not blown, check the bulbs themselves. If the bulbs are good, then the next step is to replace the brake light switch located under steering column attached to brake pedal rod.
