SOURCE: How to replace the battery on a 2004 Pontiac

I have a 2005 Bonneville GXP. I would expect yours to be the same as mine.
My battery is located under the rear seat.
Pull the fron of the seat straight up. There are two clips holding it.
Underneath you'll see the battery and a fuse block.
The cable and holddown clamp is pretty obvious.
Make sure you get the right size battery.
Also loosen the ground strap and inspect for corrosion and retighten.zeevert_1.jpgzeevert_2.jpg

Do i need a special battery for the Pontiac Bonneville..(2005) its under the back seat ?

Couldn't find it listed at Walmart but Interstate Batteries had one. It was $170. As far as jumping there are jumper post under the hood. Should have labels and positive should have red cap over the post. Ground should have a couple of big black wires going to it on the fender on right side under hood.

2004 Pontiac Bonneville Check Engine Light

do you fill the gas tank with the key on?

Try disconnecting the battery for 1/2 hour an then reconnect and drive for 10 miles. It may run rough for this period. This will clear codes from memory.
