Hello and welcome to FixYa!

If the battery light is on, I strongly suggest that you have the battery charged. It can be an indication of a weak battery or a faulty alternator. If the battery light still on after charging then the problem will surely be on the alternator itself. If that's the case the alternator should be replaced to resolve the problem.

If the battery won't hold charge even on a new alternator then the problem will be on the battery itself. It surely is in the end of it's service life and replacement will be necessary.

You may try to reset it to by removing the positive battery connector, letting it sit for at least 5mins. then reconnect it again. This will reset the system and can get the battery light off.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Car wont start just put a brand new alternator and battery

I would check to see if the cable connections are clean and if the starter has voltage. You need to know if the courtesy light is running the battery down, or if you have a different problem.

2004 Pontiac Montana -brand new battery, new alternator(not rebuilt). have to jump start and runs for a while then dies some times wont take charge. battery will die not running in a day. very intermi

First, you can't and shouldn't test an alternator by disconnecting the battery cable while the engine is running. You run the risk of cooking the alternator and the computer. Thats how we used to test generators back in the last century.
Is the check engine light on when the engine is running ? Is the battery charge warning light on ?
There should be a fuseable link between the alternator and the battery that could keep the alternator from charging the battery.
The ignition module would have no effect on the charging system.

I have a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville SSE 3.8, I tried to start car by using a screwdriver in the ignition and now my car wont start it started by jumping the starter but wont stay running. Now I have a set of...

What you need to do there is to turn the ignition switch on and off three times, leaving it on the third time. Leave it on for about fifteen or twenty minutes and the light should become steady. then you can start the engine. (I usually put a jumper battery on it to make sure it does not knock down the battery too far) If that fails to work, then the problem likely is in the switch or the security module.

Dead battery can't be pull started, there's no electricity for spark to ignite the fuel.Put a full charge on the battery and take it to your local auto parts store for a load test. They will tell you if it's bad.Battery could not have enough of a charge to stay running or you could be looking at an alternator problem.Charge the battery and start the car, disconnect the - (negative)post of the battery.Car dies, your alternator is bad.Hope this helps?
