I have a 1995 pontiac Bonneville compressor is locked up and broke the serpentine belt need to fix please help thanks Ron

it will have a chain instead. i would change it if you have 80,000 miles or more on this engine

I don't know of a practical way to get around this problem. If just the bearing inside of the clutch pulley is bad [which would first be noisy then might lock up and burn off the belt] then you may be able to have just that bearing replaced so your belt will work again. I've replaced several of these bearings over the years...they are pressed in place and do require a bit of skill and a good press to replace. Sometimes though the bearing will go bad and damaged the nose of the compressor badly enough that the only fix is to replace the compressor. The only real way to tell is to examine it all once the clutch pulley has been removed from the compressor. Hope this helps a bit!

Serpentine drive belt routing-GM “C and H” Bodies 3.8L (VIN 1) engine

the belt routing should be on the rad housing, under the hood and glued to the fan cover or find it in the owners manual.if this does'nt work then you need to make the grooved pulley's go to the v's and the flat sides go to the flat edges.

Yes you will have to loosen motor mount and jack motor slightly to change belt.

sometimes the sticker is missing, you can find most of these diagrams at Autozone dot com in the repair info section, you have to add your make model vehicle first

Or buy the shorter belt and bypass the whole thing a/c comp.and all.just measure using some string and go buy the belt.
