Did you install Dodge Replacement pads or aftermarket? With the size of the rotors and pads on your Ram it is not uncommon for aftermarket pads to have squeal. Did you install and use the anti-squeal material that should have come with the pads?
When were your pads replaced last? Aftermarket semi-metallic pads are all different. You could four sets of pads by the same manufacturer and three sets are fine and the forth set will squeal all of the time. If the brakes only make noise when you are applying pressure that is about all it could be. Your pads probably look new and still squeal. Try having your rotors resurfaced or scuffed up and see if that helps!
Hello......on the Dodge ram....either a 3/8th inch allen wrench or a half inch socket removes the 2 bolts.....I've seen 'em both ways....I hope this was helpful......Let me know what happens......PEACE......
Remove Tire
On the back ot the caliper ( holds Brake pads) there are two bolt or Screws ( usually allen heads) loosen those screws and remove them. pull off the caliper. check your rotor check for grooves and you might want to take them to get turned ( cleans the surface by taking a thin layer of metal off.
Using a C clamp or Disk brake pad tool carefully and slowly compress the piston back into the caliper....Slowly. Pace ne break pads in caliper and slide it back on to the rotor... replacing the bolts tighten them up...replace tire and you should be good to go. Remember to pump you breaks to get the pads to adjust will be soft at first. there should be no need to bleed the brakes.
Straight forward job. Remove wheels, remove 2 caliper bolts per wheel, check bolts, and bushings for wear/corrosion and lubricate, remove calipers, remove brake pads, push caliper pistons into calipers, replace anti-rattle clips, put new pads in, put caliper and bolts in, put wheels on. Start truck and press brake pedal several times to take up slack and you're done.
try autozone.com to see if they have your car listed for diagrams pictures and step by step instructions if your car is not listed then try your local library they have all the car manuals and even copy them for you
you need someone actually in vehicle after you put the brake pads on start at one side have them pump the brake then hold down tight calipers until they are on rotor then do it again and again by then it should not be soft go to the next side and repeat the process
Take your tire off, unbolt your caliper which is holding you pads to the rotor, and then just take a flat head screw driver and lightly take the pads out of the clips but if your replacing the pads its always a good idea to replace the clips.
what you need to do is line clamp brake hose so you dont push dirty brake fluid back into your system..(you can use a pair of needle nose visegrips if you dont own an actual line clamp) loosen bleeder at this point, remove caliper from attatching bracket, with old pad still installed next to piston use a big C-clamp to compress piston, just make sure clamp is centered and compress slowly allowing brake fluid to escape through loosened bleeder... once compressed tighten bleeder and install caliper and pads remove lineclamp....******NOTE******* no need to bleed the system cause of lineclamp procedure... Make sure upon reassembly you use plenty of brake lube on all sliding caliper parts...Good Luck
