I gave a 2005 Mercury Montego. It kicks into failsage engine mode with the engine and failsafe lights on. It knocks really bad so we went and had it hooked up to a diagnostic. It stated the TPS was bad. In the Montego you have to replace the whole Throttle to replace the TPS. They are not separate units from what I understand. We ordered 3 different ones from various wrecker yards and they all ran the same course... They seemed to solve the problem and then after about 100 miles the car kicks back into failsafe and such. We continued to drive it in failsafe and the alternator has since gone out. Any ideas, other than the throttle that this could be? I'm thinking maybe the tranny? Is it possible to rebuild a CVT and if so does anyone have the schematic to do so? I need all the help I can get!

But will the whole tail light assembly from mercury grand marquis fit directly in my 2005 mercury Montego? Would much rather order 2 new marquis tail lights then the 1 Montego tail light since price difference is better.

If I am understanding ... you want to reconfigure your back-up lights & everything?

but your are talking custom wiring as well.

I would not recommend either. The dealer cost for each Crown Victoria is over $100 each... and you HAVE NOT EVEN started with the CUSTOM WORK NEEDED for our reverse (back-up) lights.

I absolutely believe the trunk lid is different as well...

Stop by Autozone have them read the codes if you can, then you can google them to figure out fix. ... engine check light? or DOA?

You should get Autozone, Advance, or Oreily's to scan your vehicle. It is free. It may show the cause, You probably have an unrelated problem with the cruise. A sensor showing a excessively hot reading can trigger the failsafe mode.

If the mount is bad the engine will lift up when you hold the brake and add a little throttle, it will really jump up of the mount is broken, some movement of course is normal.

first thing to check is proper tension on all the belts, if they seem good and not worn,, check for vacuum leaks , a bad hose, or one that has come disconnected will cause this too

disconnect the battery......wait three to five minutes. reconnect

Try a salvage yard for the part. As soon as your new car left the lot it became a used car. Used cars run on used parts.
If the old part is a recall they will upgrade you regardless which part is on your car.
Check the internet and enter your part# in the search box of the Browser. You may get lucky for a new part.

I had to replace 4 different coils on my '02 LS before it finally stopped misfiring. After one code and coil replaced it would go to the next one. I had to replace them in this order, 2,3,7,8

When # 7 was misfiring it wouldn't even pull a code all of the time, the check engine light would come on one day then go off the next, really strange.
