It is located behind the glove box. you must take off the glove box door, and then the plastic bottom of the glove box..

may i ask why you want to disable it?

Thanks for that, will have a look. WE have had some intermittent faults with the alarm keep going off, replaced teh battery and all was fine until 2 nights ago. THe only way we could get the alarm to stop was to disconnect the battery as it wouldnt turn off on the key fob. Next morning reconnected the battery, car wouldnt even turn over. Put the battery on charge, still nothing, wouldnt even jump start so we assumed that the immobiliser had gone wrong. All the dash lights still come on when the key is in. For now we have put a bypass wire in from the switch to the starter but this is only a temporary measure to get the vehicle back on the road. We've tried all the usual methods for resetting the system and nthing has worked so far.

i had a similar problem with my 1993. I took it to the dealer and they were useless. I eneded up changing the alarm unit myself,..got a used one from the auto wrecker..that solved my problem...if u cant find it, let me know..it is kinda under all the relays..and to the left.

Hi, I wanted to know what is the fuel range km/liters on the hiway and in the city for a jeep grand cherokee ltd 4wd 6cyl 1996. thanks

IT DEPENDS ON HOW YOU DRIVE AND HOW WELL YOU MAINTAIN THE CAR. BUT 12 MPG IN TOWN AND 17 MPG ON OPEN ROAD WOULD BE AVERAGE FUEL ECONOMY, THIS IS A VERY HEAVY TRUCK, OVER 2 TONS.

Engine Immobilser

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cylinder. You might want to check the Ignition Off Draw (IOD) fuse in the Electrical Power Distribution center located in the black box located just in front of the coolant fill container on the left side under the hood. This is a 40 amp fuse, orange in color and is the orange fuse closest to the firewall. This fuse is used to put the jeep in storage if you don't plan to drive it for a while. Which would stop the current flow and not allow your battery to die. GOOD LUCK!
