Where is the immobilser located on my 1996 jeep grand cherokee ltd edition? And can it be bypassed or disabled?

Thanks for that, will have a look. WE have had some intermittent faults with the alarm keep going off, replaced teh battery and all was fine until 2 nights ago. THe only way we could get the alarm to stop was to disconnect the battery as it wouldnt turn off on the key fob. Next morning reconnected the battery, car wouldnt even turn over. Put the battery on charge, still nothing, wouldnt even jump start so we assumed that the immobiliser had gone wrong. All the dash lights still come on when the key is in. For now we have put a bypass wire in from the switch to the starter but this is only a temporary measure to get the vehicle back on the road. i had a similar problem with my 1993. I took it to the dealer and they were useless. I eneded up changing the alarm unit myself,..got a used one from the auto wrecker..that solved my problem...if u cant find it, let me know..it is kinda under all the relays..and to the left. i had a similar problem with my 1993.
