its because one or more glow plugs are failing.
locate the glow plugs and remove them and u will see the difference.
dry and black =working and wet oily = not working.
glow plugs are only used to start a cold engine once started its fine for the day.
sounds like your starter motor got wet,poss answer is take it for a long drive,say 20 mls,or let it tick over for a couple of hours or if a nice sunny day lift the hood and leave it all day..if it dont work after that its gonna cost....
