Check compression, best way is with a compression gauge. Or you can add just a little bit of engine oil thru the carb to see if it starts. What this does is temporarily seal the rotors edges and compression goes up (In case of worn rotor seals).
The side seals for the rotors are bad. the only thing you can do is pull the engine apart and replace the seals IF the side housings are good. If they are bad, you cant machine them, they are JUNK. Find a shop that rebuilds Mazda Rotary engines. Mazda may be the best place to get a reman engine.
I use to run my own switch for the fuel pump. Leave the power off to the pump for about 10 mins. Then power it up then start engine. If this doesn't work use a little starting fluid. If that doesn't start the engine check to make sure you are getting spark to the plug. If you are check the compression.
sounds like you may have a leaking fuel injector. put a fuel pressure gauge on it and watch the pressure with the key on and with the vehicle sitting for an hour with the key off
ALL RX Engines are a 6cylinder as they have 2 triangle rotors with apex seals and 4 spark plugs but both rotors in both cylinders fire 3 times each and you have 2 rotors 2x3=6 ..Now if you are running on 1 bank which is 1 rotor then the other rotor isent working due to either the RED rubber seal band on either the front or centre housing OR the centre housing or the rear housing, has a leak and it must either be water or oil UNLESS its in the inlet manifold gasket leaking air in or the plugs on that rotor front or back , if the plug gap has closed up or oiled up .as there isent anything else i can think of .which could cause it.
Ihave built a few of these RX motors and they are without a turbo a lovely engine and go like s--- of a shovel get it going and dont get booked for speeding.. Let me know how you get on Ron
mmmm. familiar thing, get a compression test done, should read about 6-7bar of pressure, i had same thing when i got a second hand one, done test and one of the rotors pressure was down,
I tried a Solution used from a previous posting... The automatic transmission fluid, (ATF), trick. After doing everything in the mainianace manual, without a positive outcome... I tried it.. 3 capfulls in each trailing spark plug hole... but it must be after or just after the apex went past the hole... remember turn the shaft manually until the apex passes. Also remember their are six apex seals, 3 on the front rotor and 3 on the back, thats 18 cap fulls total. Don't worry if some drips or pours out after putting it in the spark plug hole. I did it with a med seringin. but be careful the end could break off in the plug hole.(don't ask) Just make sure you do all six just after each apex. Then take both leading plugs off and spray them with starter fluid and put them back just after you spray them. This, I was told, was to make sure the car fires on the first start. IT works..... This is also a trick after having starting problems when the car floods....... That why I waited so long to try it, I did need it for flooding..... This swells up the seal... they got dried out from sitting at least four years... ATF soaks into them and helps the compression...
