Could be from a failing battery or you need to clean the throttle body. Get the cleaner's and google it and watch some videos on throttle body cleaning for your car. It isn't hard to do.
Use carburetor spray cleaner, with the motor running, and spray all possible vacuum areas. Your motor will bog down, if that is the case, you found the leak that will require repair. Best of luck!
Your model should be a throttle body injected engine. So no float and no jets like a carb. Have you checked fuel pressure before and after cranking ? Are the injectors spraying fuel when you crank it ? If not, do you have power and a ground signal for the injectors ?
Your throttle body is probably dirty,The throttle body has a hose from the air filter housing attached to it,the throttle body is attached to the intake phlenum.Take the hose off(its rubber with a clamp on it).Do this with a cold engine, NOT RUNNING ! spray some carburetor cleaner inside the venturi and scrub it with a toothbrush,on the side of the throttle body there is a place where a cable goes into, twist the direction of cable to open the throttle plate(inside the throttle body),and continue to clean. Now put it all back together. What happens over a period of time is the Throttle body gets clogged with carbon and cannot breath at idle, the throttle plate when close(at idle)has a very small air gap and cant breath when dirty. If this does not cure your problem, then you will need to consider having your ais motor check.ais= automatic idle speed motor. For this you will have to take the throttle body off to replace it and the screws have been installed with locktight and are tricky to get out.Hope this helps,I did not know what year or make of car, but its a common problem since the fuel injectors took the place of the carburetors.
** Be careful that any cleaners used are for Fuel Injected systems and are O2 sensor safe. Some Carburator Cleaners can damage FI components.**
Spraying a throttle body spray cleaner, such as one sold by STP, to clean the throttle body, then starting up and revving the engine, may be enough to dislodge the carbon deposits and material blocking the airway.
You need to conduct tests to be sure where the trouble is.
1. Spark test: remove the number one spark-plug, and hold it to the engine block. then ask a friend to crank up the engine..
2. If the system is good, you should see steady blue sparks. If you don't, then you would have to work on your ignition system.
3. Fuel test: get a can of 'starting fluid' or the common 'choke and throttle-body cleaner'.
4. Unbolt the clamp holding the air-intake hose to the throttle-body. Pull back the hose to expose the inside of the throttle-body.
5. Spray a good quantity of the cleaner into the body.
6. Re-attach the air-intake hose, and try to crank up the engine again.
7. It will show some hesitation, but keep cranking until it fires up, and able to idle.
8. If the throttle-body and the manifold are dirty, the choke cleaner should help.
9. Please get back to me if necessary.
sounds like you dont have enough cranking amps find out what the cranking amps are for your battery then call an auto part store and ask themwhat cranking amps you should have for where you live this time of year.
remove the air filter housing from the throttle body, or if its mult-ported injection, remove the large air duct. Do this the night before. The next day, before cranking and having a spray can of carb. cleaner, spray a couple of shots of carb cleaner either into the large air duct, spray towards the engine, or if its single body injection, spray directly on to the throttle body.
Crank engine immediately, preferrably have some one else sitting in the car to start it after you spray.
If the car even tries to start, replace cold start relay.
Have him remove & clean th IAC/AIS motor on the throttle body, and the port it came out of , as well as clean inside of throttle body if he hasn't done so already. Check and clean connections before re-assembling. Shouldn't take any longer than 1/2 hr or so.
