1970 oldsmobile air conditioner fan

Air conditioner blower motor will not run on high. I have already replaced the switch. Could it be the resistor or relay on the fender , motor ? This on a 1970 oldsmoblie Ralle 350, Culass "S".
Thanks,
Gary Pickett

Yes most like the relay needs replacing. This is easy access as it is near the ac compressor and not too expensive.

It is probably the 30A ? fuse wire, on top of the driver inner fender well. There is a fuse link that runs to the battery. Fuse is probably bad. This fixed mine. I think it is a 30A. Verify amp.

It is probably the 30A? fuse link that runs across the top of the driver inner fender that runs to the battery. High speed is run directly from the battery. This fixed mine.

Why does my a/c blower only work on high speed. switch works and resistor good and get power through it.

there is no resistor for high speed fan as it is full 12 volts
the slower speeds are resistor controlled
it should have a resistor pack in the blower housing ( air low to keep the resistors cool)

How do you know if your blower resistor is bad?

Unlikely a blower motor resistor problem. If the resistor is faulty. the fan speeds will not work/fail on the lower speeds. High speed will normally always work. If the fan is non operational suspect a fan motor issue.Bad fan motor/switch/wiring to it

Heater / air conditioner fan control doesn't engage fan. Previously, it only worked in high speed.

I would replace the blower motor resistor first then see if that corrects this. The resistor is located next to the blower motor under the dash.

Heater probably same, sounds like time to buy a new blower motor resistor.

I agree with 'motgor1258'... replace the blower resistor (it's actually a power transistor).
