Well, my transmission likes to slip majorly between 1st and 2nd gear. and if im just starting the car (like first thing in the morning), ill give it about a minute to warm up and then ill leave. well when i get to the first stop sign, i always put my car in neutral (its a pet peeve), but anyways, ill come to a complete stop, wait and go. and when i put the jeep back in drive, it takes about 4 seconds before its actually engaged. and also on the takeoff from the stop sign, it literally creeps along. it wont get up to speed like it used to. i dont know whats going on...

On these Jeeps, the proper way to check most of these 93-98 Jeep Grand Cherokees is with the tranny in neutral.

It should say right on your dipstick to check the fluid level with the vehicle in neutral.

For 25 years, I\'ve always checked tranny fluid in park too, but these Chryslers are different. Hope this helps you out.

My 97 Grand was slipping to, in park it reads full, but in neutral it was a quart low.

After the engine reaches operating temp, on a flat level surface, check the fluid level in the transmission (running in park) If it's low, top it off. If it's full, chances are there is an internal seal that is allowing pressure loss, preventing the transmission clutches to fully engage. You could try changing the fluid and filter, adding lucas trans conditioner. That may help a bit but most times the only permanent cure is to rebuild/replace the unit. Don't expect "instant results" from the conditioner. often it takes a few days to work...it took a long time for the seal to wear.

Why does my manual 04 dodge neon violently jerk forward rapidly when it reaches 2200rpms while Im giving it gas and the rpms doesnt go any higher then 2200rpms and it does it in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear

Only thing I can think of , is the throw out bearing is sticking on the transmission sleeve. But with this you would could/would feel a slipping in the transmission/clutch. Could be the pressure plate also, they do funny things. But usually there is noise with these. The specific rmp's throw a twist in the picture. So I would go with a clutch package And replace the master and slave cylinders.

Transmission slipping in first gear

If you take your Foot off the GAS PEDAL, will it go into the next gear? Transmissions shift by using PRESSURE and Opening the Solenoids Passages.

You may have a Solenoid Problem or a Electrical Issue, Normally if it is shifting out of 1st and going nowhere, I would suspect a Solenoid issue.

You may has also broke the Sun Shell inside the Transmission. This is not a Troubleshooting that I can go very far with you unless I hooked up my scanner but what you need is someone to put a Scan Tool on your Expedition and see what is actually happening. Sorry to give you the Bad news but I think at the minimum, you are looking at dropping your Pan and changing out a Solenoid but you could also have a major rebuild also...

Sorry

Clutch starting to slip 1994 camaro can i adjust it

It does sound like your clutch needs replacing. Adjusting the clutch may help but will not solve the problem. If the transmission has not been serviced for a long time it is a good idea to replace the transmission fluid, inspect the pressure plate. They may also start to wear.

What could cause transmission to slip in 3nd automatic

transmission is worn out and needs a rebuild. over time the slipping will come to 2nd and 1st gears too. the mechanical advantage is lower in the higher gears so the slipping starts there, and in climbing grades. it made it beyond ten years, its designed service life, all mechanical and living things wear out.

call transmission shops, yellow pages, and they will give you prices to remove, rebuild, and replace your transmission and you can make the call as to whether or not it is worth it.

1998 Dodge Grand Caravan will not shif into 2nd

Most likely the second gear section of the transmission has gone bad. There are 3 or 4 different gear sections or assemblies in an automatic transmission, when they go bad, they go bad.

My 2000 Toyota 4runner V6 125k miles automatic transmission started slipping on cold starts especially in the morning. After starting up, putting in drive and pressing the gas pedal first gear doesn't...

Low transmission fluid is usually the only reason power engages late or slippage occurs. But changing the transmission fluid again would not hurt. The stuff really shouldn't deteriorate like engine oil. Be sure to not run the vehicle many miles until the problem is completely resolved < 100 miles. One easy check would be to make sure the transmission lines are well connected and maintain pressure as well as fluid level. The good thing is that Toyota has a reputation of very good transmissions.
