Idling Problem - Altis 2002 The engine doesn't start properly especially when cold. Normally, the engine idle goes up to heat up the engine but mine don't anymore. It will start, and then goes dead. Upon multiple attempts, and when the engine has heated up a bit, the idle goes up for a sec or two and then goes bak to low idling (super low as if it's gonna go dead again). The engine doesnt start properly even when it's hot When you start the engine, it takes a long time for the engine to start. And when it starts, there's to "vroom"... It is really having a hard time starting. I am sorry if my description of the symptoms seem confusing; I don't know much about engines. Please help. Let me know if you need futher details.

I also noticed when I am trying to start it, that I have to keep the gas pedal pressed to keep it running. But doing this, the rpm is so high (3500 of so). Then when it heats up, the rpm slowly goes down to 1800 or so. At this time, I depress the gas pedal, and the idle is back to 900.

I have a 2002 Dodge Stratus with no heat should I change the thermostat or what???

Start by checking the coolant level. Then check the inlet and outlet hoses to the heater core. They should both be near the same temp. If one is hot and the other is cold, you have a plugged heater core. Here's a post with all the possibiliites in order

Heat problem. Heater only works sometimes. Blows out almost AC temperature majority of the time. No engine overheating problems. May or may not be related to actuator issue (vent always open)

Check to see if your heating system is properly filled. Air in system can often prevent the proper flow of hot coolant into the radiator core resulting in your issue.

My corolla altis 2002 model makes noise during idling and when trying to accelerate noise comes more louder and it doesnt have power but i changed the timing kit and the valves,it also shows the engi

I'm pretty good with noises, but to answer your question, you're going to have to describe the noise itself. For example, at idle you hear a clicking, chattering, squeaking or rattle. If you can also let us know where the "noise" is coming from (engine, trans, drive axle) that would also be helpful. Try to be as descriptive as possible, so somebody can help you out. Most people have experienced the same issues and can help if given a better description.

If it runs fine and the idle is the only problem you could try idling it up some with the idle set screw on the throttle body it sounds like it may be a little bit out of time those toyotas have a fine lins on the timing.

Engine heats when stopped and idling , cools off when car is moving . Electric fan is blowing properly I think.

the problem sounds like it could be the fan isn't working you need to check, let the engine idle until it starts to overheat & check if the fan is working......hope this helps......cheers

My jeep shakes alot too when idling- runs ok while driving--

The intake air sensor and the coolant temp sensors regulate the cold run like the mechanical chokes of earlier cars. It would be a good idea to have them checked by a competent mechanic before buying or paying for hunt ant peck solutions. Good Luck, Ned
