Just adding to this. The check engine light has to do with a fault in the emissions control system and some parts, like the catalytic converter, have a longer warranty period than the basic 3yr/36mos. Mine is on and it's a problem with VTEC system ($1000.). But I have an extended warranty.Just adding to this. The check engine light has to do with

lost the operators manual, did you? it is there. and lots of good facts.
here they ALL are, for ALL cars.
the engine block means, just that the ENGINE SYSTEMS
see ERRORS,
that means to SCAN it. http://dashboardsymbols.com/the-symbols/
Most of the time the egr valve or the egr sensor is shot! Take the car to an auto parts store (most check it for free) or your mechanic to have them check the codes for the error!
Means that the recirculation feature is ACTIVE. What this does is take the cabin cooled air, and re-cool it again, using very little fresh air from the outside, and allowing the air conditioner to work much cooler and efficient. Not advisable if you have a full load of passengers, and absolutely recommendable if you are going through long tunnels, or behind vehicles with visible tailpipe smoke. Keep me posted.
How's the car doing? Do you notice anything unusual on the car? As a first course of action I strongly suggest that you have the car scanned by a scan tool. The orange light will be the check engine light and if this is lit the car needs some maintenance check.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
I had a P1065 on my '05 Accord. The car faltered whilst accelerating hard at about 60mph, then the orange heater light started flashing and it went into limp mode. (Engine won't go above 2000 rpm) Replaced the fuel filter and it was totally cured. Very awkward to do (What were the designers thinking about.....) Hope this helps, Dave
It means it's time for service---- to change engine oil -- check air filter and various maintence stuff--- if you have the owners manual it will show you what service to perfoam and to log it in the service book.
Also has intructions in the owners manual as to how to reset the service warning light-- kind of tricky but once you get it it's pretty simple.
If the light was flashing when it came on, then it means your engine is misfiring.
A solid light can mean anything from a loose/faulty gas cap to a transmission issue.
This
light comes on when the computer detects a
fault of some sort in its diagnostic tests. If it keeps detecting this
issue, the light will remain on. If the light turns off, then it has
detected that the issue may no longer be present.
In
order to find out what the exact reason was for your light, You need to
have your car computer scanned to retrieve the code that
the computer would have stored when the light triggered. Most garages
will do this free of charge. The code will tell you what may have
caused the light to initially turn on.
