My 1996 BMW 316i will start fine, however, when i begin to accellerate, it begins to die. The engine will start to sputter, then gain power again. If I allow the vehicle to warm up for a 10-15 minutes, I can drive the car fine, but if I try to accellerate too fast, it starts to sputter then catch up. During high miles per hour....40-60....it does fine, but sometimes begins to loose power then gain it back again.
I think its the fuel pump. I read that it can be a relay, or perhaps could it be something with the fuel injection? I had a 1992 bmw that needed three out of 6 fuel injector modules changed.

there may be a damaged wire coming from the receiver ring which sits round your ignition lock, this "reads" your key and allows the starter to turn your engine over so if there is an intermittant fault here that could cause your non-starting.
May be the fuel pump, experienced similar problems in 1995 Intrepid. When the pump warmed up, it would start to loose pressure and car would sputter and die, but would start back up. If it started it would usually begin sputtering again and eventually die.
