I recently picked up a 1991 Le Baron convertible. I have been having problems with the turn signals. The 4-way flashers work, but the turn signals do not work. I have replaced the yellow flasher unit along with the fuses and relays located along the inner wall underneath the driver's side dash. I replaced the diode package that the turn signal current runs through. The bulbs, sockets, and turn signal switch have been checked. I am still having problems. So, I went to a Chrysler dealer and asked for some input. He told me that the yellow flasher unit located to the right of the steering column ONLY controls the flashers and NOT the turn signals. I need to look for a separate disc-shaped unit that controls only the turn signals.
So, does anyone know anything about how these turn signals are wired? Where should I be looking for this separate turn signal unit?
Since all of the relays and fuses were good, I figured something wasn't working in the dash pod. So, in order to fix this problem, I had to replace the entire circuit board that the turn signal unit is plugged into. FYI. The 90 and 91 Le Barons (along with some later years) have what are called "combination flashers." This flasher unit controls BOTH the turn signals and the hazards. It is a yellow unit located under the dashboard to the right of the steering column. I was told to look for a disc-shaped flasher that controls only the turn signals. These disc-shaped flashers were used in earlier Le Barons and earlier Chrysler models, NOT the later ones.

You'll find the problem to a failure of a connection in the switch itself. Fix
that, and you will have no problem. The plug-in that may not be making contact which
is under the cowl that goes over the instrument panel. 3 screws hold
the underside of the cowl panel in place. Once that is removed you can
see the switch connecter on the left hand side. Turn the key on to
activate the turn signal switch in the left turn position and gently
wiggle the connection till the left turn signal comes on.may even try spraying some electronic tuner cleaner but very
sparingly. Button everything back up and you should be in fine shape.
By the way, Chrysler no longer makes the remote turn signal/dimmer
switch for these model Lebarons. That particular remote switch was used
in the 1990 thru 1994 Lebaron coupes and convertibles. Should you ever
have need of the switch itself about the only place you could find one
would be in a salvage yard. The part number for the switch is 5269468.

and the other is the body manual.
The wiring diagrams should help but you might want to try both. That way you will always have the complete info for your vehicle.

The first thing I would do is goto Autozone and have them pull the part. Take a look at it so you know what you're looking for. Also, many times autozone has diagrams in thier computer that shows how to connect the part. Have them look for that too and show it to you. This is where I always start when I'm not exactly sure what a part looks like or where it's located.
A Clymer Guide or similar manual will show you the wiring schematic. Should be available online, or in your library.

Thanks for the help. I have a Haynes Repair manual. This manual does contain VERY GENERAL wiring diagrams. It gives limited information about ALL midsize chrysler automobiles from '82 to '95. Therefore, it is not very detailed for the LeBaron. It is way too general. I have also checked at various libraries for books (like you say) that specifically pertain to the LeBaron. No luck so far. Any other help/suggestions anyone can throw my way would be greatly appreciated.

Our daughters 2001 Concorde has no flashers or signals. My husband replaced the fuses & the relay flasher under the dash next to the brake pedal but they are still dead. Should we replace the signal switch or is there something else we can do first?
