Cant get door panel off drivers side door - 2002 Ford Expedition

Before you replace anything, inspect the connector pins in both the driver's door switch and the passenger door switch. If you don't find any problem with these connector pins, replace the driver's door control switch.

you have to break door panel and may be latch to open door.

IF YOU CANT OPEN DOOR FROM OUTSIDE TRY OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE.I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WHILE BACK.IF YOU CANT OPEN CAR DOOR FROM INSIDE,TRY OPEN CAR DOOR FROM THE OUT SIDE.

Sounds like the rod that goes from the lock to the key came off. There is usually a little plastic clip that holds it together and they break and you get what you are experiencing. You have to take the inside panel off of the door to get inside it.

the fuses for the windows will be in fuse box, it sounds like possible water intrusion,the fuses should all be marked, if they are all good,you may have to remove the door panel to check for any damage at door switches

you may be able to remove the mirror inner trim panel (small triangular shaped trim piece above door trim panel)
to access the mirror mount.
If not then you will have to remove the trim panel for access to the back side of the mirror

It may be at the driver's side, as you open the drivers-side door.
Right on the side of the dash, where the dash meets the door hinge area, pontiac sometimes located the fuse panels there.

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

If you open your driver side door and look on the side of the dashboard where the side vent is you should see a little panel that is removable and there behind that panel you would find you fuse box for all your minor electrical components.

sounds like a plastic Sir clip of course you say external handel detached from door consider linkage clip has fallen down!
